Our goal is to deliver working software every two weeks. We are a large team that spans across three global offices, but we collaborate and integrate front- and back-end components and interfaces to provide a user-centred experience through web and mobile platforms.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll be doing</strong></p> <p>As a Senior PHP Developer, you are responsible for managing database operations and building high-performance, scalable APIs for the frontend. Using the Shopware ecosystem, you will architect both administration and storefront API structures to support complex e-commerce requirements.</p> <ul> <li>Designing and implementing complex Shopware plugins, including the administrator, frontend, and API layers.</li> <li>Developing and optimizing REST APIs, Batch Processing, and ETL jobs to ensure seamless data flow.</li> <li>Managing migrations and automating tasks via cron jobs.</li> <li>Ensuring the scalability and integrity of our MySQL and RDBMS operations</li> <li>Develop testable, reusable, and efficient code, ensuring code quality and maintainability.</li> <li>Design and implement RESTful APIs for seamless integration between frontend and backend services.</li> <li>Implement security protocols, data protection measures, and storage solutions to ensure application reliability and compliance.</li> <li>Conduct diagnostic testing, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support when needed.</li> <li>Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions, and mentor junior developers.</li> <li>Continuously improve processes, performance, and technology choices across the stack.</li> <li>Be available occasionally to handle urgent production issues outside normal business hours.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you’ll need to be successful (Requirements)</strong></p> <p><strong>Must have skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>PHP & Symfony</strong>: Expert-level knowledge of PHP and the Symfony framework for backend development.</li> <li><strong>Shopware Ecosystem</strong>: Deep architectural knowledge of Shopware; must have experience creating plugins from scratch.</li> <li><strong>Databases</strong>: Proficiency in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL (RDBMS) and ElasticSearch (NoSQL).</li> <li><strong>Frontend</strong>: Experience with VueJS and SCSS for modern storefront development.</li> <li><strong>Data Engineering</strong>: Hands-on experience with REST APIs, Batch Processing, and ETL workflows.</li> <li><strong>Architecture</strong>: Strong grasp of OOP, Dependency Injection (DI), and design patterns.</li> <li>Solid understanding of API performance, data modeling, and application optimization.</li> <li>Experience working with Git-based workflows (branching, merging, pull requests, code reviews) for effective team collaboration and version control.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Should have skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with secure authentication, authorization, and data protection implementations.</li> <li>Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.</li> <li>Strong organizational and time management skills.</li> <li>Effective collaboration and communication skills across teams.</li> <li>Ability to recommend and implement technical and process improvements proactively.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to have skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Modern Frontend: Experience with any JS framework Next/Nuxt or library ecosystems.</li> <li>Experience working with serverless, microservices, or monorepo architectures.</li> <li>Integrations: Prior experience integrating ERP systems or Payment Gateways with Shopware.</li> <li>Architecture: Experience with headless commerce architecture and Shopware B2B modules.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Need another reason to hit the “apply” button?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Codal is a global agency with over 250 employees, and offices in the US, UK, Canada and India </li> <li>We are a BigCommerce Partner and have won the Partner of the year award twice (most recently this past year).</li> <li>We regularly host happy hours, dinners, excursions, and other company events to unwind after a hard day…
