Together we are a team with a wide variety of skills and experiences that tackle exciting challenges across all of Altos. The Scientist /&nbsp; Senior Scientist, Metabolomics Group Lead is responsible for end-to-end management of metabolomics and lipidomics projects, from experimental design through sample preparation, measurement, data processing and data delivery. This role partners cross-functionally with scientific and bioinformatics teams to ensure robust, reproducible data generation, maintain operational excellence of LC-MS platforms, and drive projects to successful and timely completion.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional scientists to define project objectives, assess feasibility, and establish clear deliverables and timelines<br><br></li> <li>Execute and supervise sample preparation workflows for steady-state metabolomics and lipidomics<br><br></li> <li>Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS instrumentation (e.g., Thermo Exploris 240, SCIEX 7500, Vanquish HPLC) to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime<br><br></li> <li>Optimize and adapt extraction protocols to support analysis of diverse and challenging biological samples<br><br></li> <li>Process and analyze raw datasets with software (e.g. Skyline, Compound Discoverer), and coordinate with bioinformatics teams to ensure accurate data processing, quality control, and efficient project execution<br><br></li> <li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date project tracking and documentation in systems, such as Benchling, and shared project management tools<br><br></li> <li>Communicate project status, timelines, and risks effectively to internal stakeholders and leadership<br><br></li> </ul> <p><strong>Who You Are</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>PhD (or equivalent experience) in metabolomics, lipidomics, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline.</li> <li>&gt;6 years of hands-on experience with both HRAM and LRMS preferably with Orbitrap Exploris and SCIEX triple quadrupole mass spectrometry platforms.</li> <li>Strong experimental design and problem-solving skills, with experience performing sample preparation of cells, tissues, and biofluids.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience with mentoring and project management, including managing collaborations with scientists with diverse training backgrounds</li> </ul> <p><strong>Ideal candidates would satisfy two or more of the following </strong><strong>preferred qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience developing new methods for analysis of metabolites/lipids of interest</li> <li>Prior experience in Metabolite Identification and trapping in the context of drug metabolism</li> <li>Experience performing large-scale discovery studies of &gt; 1,000 samples</li> <li>Experience designing and interpreting complex isotope tracing experiments (e.g., metabolic flux analysis)</li> <li>Experience integrating metabolomics/lipidomics with other omics, including proteomics and transcriptomics&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>Salary Range: Redwood City, California</p> <p>Scientist II: $156,800- $201,000</p> <p>Senior Scientist : $172,400- $221,000</p> <p>This is an on- site role</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h2><strong>Equal Opportunity Employment</strong></h2> <p>We value collaboration and scientific excellence.</p> <p>We believe that diverse perspectives and a culture of belonging are foundational to scientific innovation and inquiry.
