About this role
Position : Sales Development Representative (SDR) – UK B2B Market
Salary : up to £1,300 /month basic + performance commission
Working Hours : Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM UK time
Holidays : UK public holidays
About the Role
Are you a confident, driven outbound sales professional who enjoys picking up the phone, starting conversations with business leaders, and uncovering real opportunities?
Our client is a established UK digital agency with a 12-year track record of solving commercial problems for growing companies. The consulting team has an exceptional closing record—converting 68% of the formal proposals they deliver. They are seeking an articulate, self-motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) based remotely in South Africa to help expand their reach across the UK market.
This is a pure outbound pipeline role focused on research, phone-first outreach, and qualified appointment setting. You won't be expected to close deals, write complex proposals, or be a technical SEO specialist—our senior consultants handle the presentations and technical execution. Your mission is simply to find target UK decision-makers, open consultative conversations around their search visibility, and book high-quality discovery meetings for the sales team.
What You Will Do
• Targeted Prospect Sourcing: Use online research and LinkedIn to identify established UK companies (£1M+ turnover) across sectors like manufacturing, engineering, and professional services, building your own daily prospect outreach lists.
• Proactive Outbound Prospecting: Pick up the phone as your primary tool—supported by targeted emails and LinkedIn touches—to initiate conversations with Managing Directors, Business Owners, and Marketing Directors.
• Conversational Problem Spotting: Use quick, pre-templated ranking snapshots (we will train you how to pull these in minutes) to show prospects how visible they are against competitors, uncovering their current sales and digital marketing challenges.
• Commercial Qualification: Screen for genuine business requirements, active decision-makers, and real investment potential.
• Appointment Setting & Handover: Book confirmed discovery calls for the senior sales team and provide a clear, concise handover brief on the prospect's pain points and current setup.
• CRM & Activity Tracking: Keep clean records of daily call activity, conversations, follow-ups, and meeting outcomes inside the company CRM.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For
• Proven Outbound Phone Experience: Hands-on track record in telephone-based cold calling, prospecting, or appointment setting within a B2B setting.
• UK Business Familiarity: Excellent spoken and written English with a natural, conversational delivery suited for speaking comfortably with UK business owners and directors.
• Comfortable Sourcing Your Own Leads: Proactive mindset to build and organize your own daily call lists from scratch rather than waiting for inbound leads.
• Curiosity & Coachability: Ability to ask open questions, listen to business problems, and communicate commercial value without relying on rigid scripts.
• Basic Digital Marketing Interest: An understanding of why businesses invest in Google and online visibility (no deep technical SEO knowledge required—if you understand the basics and can read a simple report, we will train you on the rest).
• Target-Driven Resilience: Consistent motivation to hit monthly targets
What Success Looks Like
You consistently source, qualify, and book discovery meetings with decision-makers who fit Surge’s Ideal Customer Profile.
