Registered Nurse (On Call/PRN) - Day and Night shifts

About this role

Our behavioral healthcare hospital provides compassionate, psychiatric and mental health care to adolescent and adult patients. We are looking for a dedicated, flexible On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
As an On-Call Registered Nurse, you will deliver direct patient care, perform psychiatric nursing assessments, and respond immediately to behavioral crises. This flexible role requires availability to cover open shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed by the facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete comprehensive physical and psychiatric nursing assessments.

• Administer medications and document patient responses accurately.

• Monitor patient safety, utilize de-escalation techniques, and respond effectively to behavioral or medical emergencies.

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.

• Maintain complete, accurate electronic medical records in compliance with mental health laws and regulations.

• Perform suicide assessments and understand suicide precautions.

• Identify and incorporate each patient’s unique needs into a comprehensive and individualized care plan.

• Rounds on patients, ensuring patient care and an environment that optimizes patient safety.

• Demonstrate knowledge of medication management to ensure patient care and reduce the likelihood of medical/health errors.

• Day shift (7:00am-7:30pm) and Night shift (7:00pm-7:30am) available
Requirements

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing required.

• Current BLS/CPR certification required.

• Minimum one (1) year behavioral health experience preferred.

• Charge Nurse experience preferred.

• Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crisis by using accepted intervention techniques.

• Four (4) shifts per month required with availability for up to 8 shifts per month (including 2 weekend shifts and a holiday rotation).

• Availability submitted 4 weeks ahead, in time for the schedule build. Shifts assigned by Staffing based on business need (not self-selected; hours not guaranteed).

• Commitment is on-call for same day call offs and 1:1's.
