As a Software Product Manager, you will be responsible for guiding the strategy, discovery, development, delivery, and ongoing improvement of software used in the design and manufacture of structural building components.
You will work directly with customers, internal stakeholders, Product Development, User Experience, and other cross-functional partners to identify important customer problems and deliver solutions that provide measurable customer and business value. You will develop a deep understanding of component design and manufacturing workflows and become the product expert and primary advocate for your products.

This role requires a combination of customer focus, technical curiosity, industry knowledge, business judgment, and the ability to translate complex workflows into clear product priorities and requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Product Strategy, Roadmap, and Lifecycle Management, 30%

• Develop and communicate the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and measurable objectives.

• Align product priorities with customer needs, market opportunities, technical considerations, and organizational goals.

• Manage the software product throughout its lifecycle, including new capabilities, ongoing enhancements, adoption, modernization, and retirement of obsolete functionality.

• Evaluate product performance using customer feedback, usage information, support trends, market research, and other qualitative and quantitative data.

• Make informed tradeoff decisions involving customer value, technical feasibility, business viability, timing, risk, and available capacity.

• Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Training, and Support on product positioning, launches, adoption, and external messaging.

Product Delivery and Backlog Ownership, 30%

• Translate customer and business needs into clear product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.

• Create, maintain, and prioritize a healthy product backlog based on customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, dependencies, and strategic alignment.

• Collaborate closely with Software Development, User Experience, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and other partners throughout discovery and delivery.

• Provide timely clarification and make product decisions that allow development teams to maintain progress.

• Participate in planning, refinement, demonstrations, release reviews, and other product-development activities.

• Validate completed functionality against customer needs and defined acceptance criteria.

• Coordinate release readiness, release communications, documentation, training, and post-release evaluation.

Product Discovery and Customer Understanding, 25%

• Work directly with customers and internal subject-matter experts to understand component design, layout, engineering, and manufacturing workflows.

• Identify customer pain points, unmet needs, workarounds, and opportunities for product improvement.

• Partner with User Experience and Software Development to test assumptions, prototype potential solutions, and validate concepts before significant development begins.

• Use customer interviews, workflow observation, market research, competitive analysis, product data, and technical input to determine which problems should be addressed.

• Develop a strong understanding of how component design decisions affect engineering output, material use, production processes, and customer efficiency.

Product Leadership and Communication, 15%

• Become the primary product expert and trusted point of contact for your software products.

• Clearly communicate product direction, priorities, decisions, tradeoffs, progress, and upcoming capabilities to technical and nontechnical audiences.

• Build alignment among customers, Engineering, UX, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Implementation, Support, and leadership.

• Lead through influence, facilitate productive discussions, and help teams resolve conflicting priorities.

• Represent the product in customer meetings, demonstrations, internal training, and industry events.

• Maintain awareness of relevant industry practices, software trends, customer workflows, and competitive offerings.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction technology, computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

• 3 or more years of software-related component manufacturing experience.

• 1 or more years of product management experience preferred.

• Experience in software product management, product ownership, business analysis, software development, UX, technical support, or a related discipline.

• Experience working with cross-functional software-development teams throughout product discovery and delivery.

• Experience with CAD, BIM, structural design, engineering, architectural, construction, or manufacturing software.

• Knowledge of structural building components, including roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels, engineered wood products, component layout, or manufacturing workflows, is strongly preferred.

• Understanding of Agile product-development practices, backlog management, user stories, acceptance criteria, and software release processes.
