About this role

Emergent builds autonomous coding agents that replace traditional software development by generating, testing, and deploying production applications directly from plain-language intent. Our systems run in production at global scale and are used to build millions of real applications.

Since public launch, Emergent has crossed $100M in ARR and grown to over 10M users across 190+ countries. We're backed by Khosla Ventures, SoftBank, Google, Lightspeed, Prosus, Together, and Y Combinator.

We're solving the hard part of AI-driven software creation: correctness, reliability, security, and scale in real production systems. The team is built by repeat founders, Olympiad medalists, IIT & IIM alumni, and leaders from Google, Amazon, and Dropbox.

We're hiring builders who want ownership, speed, and impact at global scale.

What You'll Do:

• Build a system to conduct and evangelise User research at high frequency.

• Independently plan and execute generative and evaluative research, including user interviews, usability testing, surveys, contextual inquiries, diary studies, concept testing, and journey mapping.

• Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure research insights inform product roadmaps, feature prioritization, and design decisions.

• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify user needs, behaviors, pain points, and opportunities.

• Create clear research outputs such as insight reports, personas, journey maps, opportunity frameworks, and product recommendations.

• Present findings to stakeholders and leadership through compelling storytelling and actionable recommendations.

• Mentor junior researchers and help strengthen user-centered thinking across the organization.

• Improve research operations, including templates, repositories, processes, tools, and best practices.

• Advocate for inclusive, accessible, and evidence-based product experiences.

What We're Looking For:

• 6 years+ of hands-on experience independently planning and executing UX research.

• Strong experience with both generative and evaluative research methods.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Design, Sociology, or a related field preferred.

• Proficiency with research and analysis tools such as UserTesting, Qualtrics, Optimal Workshop, Dovetail, Maze, Lookback, Miro, Figma, Axure, or similar.

• Strong ability to synthesize complex findings into practical product and design recommendations.

• Excellent storytelling, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to articulate the user and business impact of research-driven decisions.

• Experience working in cross-functional product teams in fast-paced or agile environments.

• Portfolio or case studies demonstrating research impact on product strategy, design, or business outcomes.

Good to Have:

• Experience with B2C products, AI-powered products, consumer applications, marketplaces, or similar digital products.

• Experience building or scaling research operations.

• Familiarity with product analytics, experimentation, or behavioral data.

• Experience conducting accessibility or inclusive design research.

Why Join Us:

• Research insights directly shape product strategy, prioritization, and design direction.

• Teams make better decisions because they have a clearer understanding of users.

• Research leads to measurable improvements in usability, adoption, satisfaction, or business outcomes.

• Stakeholders see UX research as a strategic partner throughout the product lifecycle.
