Position Summary

Gotion is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer to support the design, analysis, and execution of structural engineering projects for advanced battery manufacturing facilities, energy storage systems, and related industrial infrastructure. This role will be responsible for ensuring structural integrity, code compliance, and constructability across new construction, equipment foundations, facility modifications, and expansion projects.

The ideal candidate has experience designing steel and concrete structures within industrial, manufacturing, or large-scale commercial environments and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering, construction, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and review structural systems for manufacturing facilities, laboratories, warehouses, office buildings, and utility infrastructure.

• Perform structural calculations for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems in accordance with applicable building codes and engineering standards.

• Develop engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and calculation packages for new construction and facility modifications.

• Coordinate structural requirements with civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams.

• Review vendor drawings, shop drawings, and contractor submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications.

• Support the design and installation of equipment foundations, mezzanines, platforms, pipe racks, supports, and other industrial structures.

• Conduct field inspections and site assessments to verify existing conditions and support construction activities.

• Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to RFIs, reviewing field changes, and resolving structural issues.

• Ensure projects comply with International Building Code (IBC), ASCE, AISC, ACI, OSHA, California Building Code (CBC), and other applicable standards.

• Collaborate with project managers to support scheduling, budgeting, and project execution.

• Assist in value engineering initiatives to improve constructability and reduce project costs.

• Participate in root cause investigations related to structural deficiencies or construction issues.

• Maintain engineering documentation, calculations, and revision control throughout project execution.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives for engineering standards and design practices.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.

• 5+ years of structural engineering experience.

• Experience designing industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, energy, or large commercial facilities.

• Strong knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, seismic design, and load analysis.

• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RISA-3D, STAAD.Pro, or similar.

• Experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with Revit.

• Knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Steel Manual, ACI 318, OSHA, and applicable engineering standards.

• Ability to review construction documents, calculations, and contractor submittals.

• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.

• Experience supporting manufacturing plant construction or battery manufacturing facilities.

• Experience with seismic design in California.

• Familiarity with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary project environments.
