You’ll drive innovation across verticals, solve large-scale system challenges, and mentor senior engineers to maximize impact. You operate with autonomy and influence outcomes at the vertical and/or organizational level.</p> <h3><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Define and lead multi-team technical strategies for scalability and interoperability.</li> <li>Design frameworks and reusable systems used across multiple engineering pods. Define engineering patterns adopted across Datavant.</li> <li>Drive cross-functional initiatives in data architecture, security, and reliability.</li> <li>Advise leadership on technical direction and major tradeoffs. Represent engineering in executive technical decisions and planning.</li> <li>Mentor senior engineers and influence cultural and architectural evolution.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Tech Stack You’ll Work With</strong></h3> <p>As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work across the full breadth of Datavant’s platform and are expected to operate comfortably within our multi-cloud, large-scale distributed systems environment. Your work will span:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Backend:</strong> Python, Go, Java; microservices; REST and GraphQL</li> <li><strong>Frontend:</strong> TypeScript, React, Next.js (as needed for full-stack or cross-domain work)</li> <li><strong>Infrastructure &amp; Cloud:</strong> AWS, multi-cloud architectures, Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tooling</li> <li><strong>Data Platforms:</strong> Snowflake, Spark, SQL, S3; advanced data engineering workflows and high-scale data pipelines</li> <li><strong>ETL &amp; Orchestration:</strong> Airflow or AWS Glue</li> <li><strong>Streaming:</strong> Kafka or Kinesis for real-time ingestion and system integrations</li> <li><strong>Observability:</strong> Enterprise-level telemetry systems including DataDog, Grafana, and CloudWatch</li> <li><strong>Security &amp; Compliance:</strong> OAuth2/SAML, encryption, tokenization, and zero-trust security frameworks</li> </ul> <p>Staff Engineers at this level are expected to <strong>apply deep architectural expertise across these technologies</strong>, define scalable patterns, guide cross-team adoption, and ensure Datavant’s platform meets the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance.</p> <h3><strong>What You Bring</strong></h3> <ul> <li>10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated system design mastery.</li> <li>Deep experience with large-scale distributed systems, multi-cloud architectures, data pipelines, and security.</li> <li>Strong organizational influence and ability to align teams across verticals.</li> <li>Ability to translate strategic objectives into scalable engineering execution.</li> <li>Commitment to mentorship, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Leadership Qualities &amp; Mindset</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Operate as a trusted technical advisor and thought leader.
