Overview

We’re hiring a Staff Software Engineer to help build and scale the technology at the heart of Breeze’s payments platform.

You’ll take on some of our most complex engineering challenges, building secure, reliable systems that move money while helping shape what we build and how we build it. You’ll work across the stack, own critical systems end to end, and partner closely with Product and Design to turn complex payments problems into simple, scalable solutions.

This is a hands-on Staff role with real ownership and technical influence. You’ll help set architectural direction, raise the engineering bar, guide technical decisions across the team, and build the systems and foundations Breeze needs for its next stage of growth.

What You’ll Do:

• Build and scale the systems that power Breeze, with a focus on reliability, security, and performance across our payments platform

• Own critical systems end to end, from architecture and technical design through development, launch, and iteration

• Build across the stack using React and TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js and TypeScript on the backend, and modern serverless infrastructure

• Shape technical direction, making architectural decisions and helping establish engineering standards as Breeze scales

• Bring a strong product mindset to engineering, partnering closely with Product and Design to turn complex problems into simple, high-quality customer experiences

• Raise the engineering bar through technical leadership, mentorship, and thoughtful collaboration across the team

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

• 9+ years of software engineering experience building complex, high-impact systems, ideally in fintech, payments, or fast-paced startup environments

• Strong full-stack engineering experience with deep proficiency in modern backend development

• A track record of owning complex systems end to end and making high-impact architectural and technical decisions

• Deep understanding of building scalable, reliable, and secure systems, with experience in cloud-based or serverless infrastructure

• Strong product intuition and a passion for building thoughtful, user-centric solutions

• A technical leader who can influence engineering direction, raise standards, and mentor other engineers while remaining highly hands-on

• Strong communicator who collaborates effectively across Engineering, Product, Design, and other teams

• A builder mentality with the ownership, adaptability, and bias toward action needed to thrive in a fast-moving startup

• Experience with cryptocurrency or blockchain is a plus
