Could you be our next hire?<br><br>As a Staff Software Engineer, your primary focus will be to architect, build, and optimize our industry-leading platform across the entire stack, from scalable frontend applications to high-performance backend services. We are looking for a motivated, self-starter who can drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and influence best practices in a distributed team environment. Your role will be pivotal in delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable software that powers the commercial contracting industry.</p> <p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Architect, build, and maintain our full-stack platform, including scalable frontend applications (React.js) and high-performance backend services (Node.js, GraphQL, REST APIs).</li> <li>Lead technical decisions across the stack, ensuring high performance, maintainability, and best practices for both frontend and backend development.</li> <li>Design, develop, and optimize APIs to power our frontend applications and third-party integrations.</li> <li>Improve database design and query optimization, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.</li> <li>Enhance and optimize our design system and UI components using Material-UI, ensuring a seamless and consistent user experience.</li> <li>Own full-stack observability, implementing logging, monitoring, and performance analysis tools to improve reliability across frontend and backend services.</li> <li>Evaluate and introduce new technologies that drive innovation and efficiency across the stack.</li> <li>Work in tandem with the QA engineering team to ship high-precision, well-tested software.</li> <li>Define and enforce testing strategies across both frontend and backend using tools such as Jest and React Testing Library.</li> <li>Mentor and guide other engineers, conducting technical design reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions.</li> <li>Lead technical initiatives that impact multiple teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and technical vision.</li> <li>Communicate effectively with engineers, product managers, customers, partners, and other leaders.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What We Look For:</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on full-stack development in modern JavaScript/TypeScript.</li> <li>Deep expertise in React.js and state management with experience in building and maintaining scalable frontend architectures.</li> <li>Strong backend development experience with Node.js, designing and maintaining GraphQL APIs (Apollo, Relay) and RESTful services.</li> <li>Proficiency in database technologies (SQL), including PostgreSQL, MySQL,or similar.</li> <li>Experience with frontend and backend performance optimization, including database indexing, caching, and frontend rendering strategies.</li> <li>Strong experience with event-driven architecture, messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and real-time data processing.</li> <li>Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).</li> <li>Prior knowledge or ability to quickly learn Python for backend development is a plus.</li> <li>Experience working in CI/CD environments, ensuring smooth and automated deployments across the stack.</li> <li>Track record of mentoring and coaching engineers, fostering a culture of growth and continuous learning.</li> <li>Strong communication and technical writing skills for documentation and cross-functional collaboration.</li> <li>B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.</li> <li>Ability to work a hybrid schedule - Monday/Friday WFH, Tuesday - Thursday, in office</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compensation</strong></p> <ul> <li>$172,000 - $229,000 base salary range + annual bonus + meaningful equity</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><div class="p-rich_text_section"><strong data-stringify-type="bold">What we offer:</strong></div> <ul class="p-rich_text_list p-rich_text_list__bullet p-rich_text_list--nested" data-stringify-type="unordered-list" data-list-tree="true" data-indent="0" data-border="0"> <li data-stringify-indent="0" data-stringify-border="0">Generous equity grant, become an owner in our company!</li> <li data-stringify-indent="0" data-stringify-border="0">A comprehensive benefits package</li> <li data-stringify-indent="0" data-stringify-border="0">Flexible PTO and hybrid work schedules</li> <li data-stringify-indent="0" data-stringify-border="0">One-time work-from-home allowance</li> <li data-stringify-indent="0" data-stringify-border="0">Hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, and Raleigh with hybrid work schedules and lunch provided for in-office days</li> <li data-stringify-indent="0" data-stringify-border="0">Company events and team-building activities, both in-person and virtual</li> <li…
