We are currently seeking to add a Staff Geologist/Geotechnical Field Professional to our dynamic team in Richland, WA.

This position will support a variety of geotechnical engineering and geological projects for public and private clients throughout the Pacific Northwest. The successful candidate will assist with subsurface investigations, construction observation, geological evaluations, and preparation of technical reports that support infrastructure, transportation, energy, and land development projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established consulting firm and gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced geologists and geotechnical engineers on challenging and rewarding projects.

Your Responsibilities as an Engineer 1 - Staff Engineer:

• Assist with subsurface exploration programs, including soil borings, test pits, rock coring, and geologic field investigations

• Perform field logging of soil and rock materials and document subsurface conditions

• Conduct construction observation during earthwork, grading, foundation, utility, and pavement construction activities

• Coordinate and oversee drilling subcontractors and field exploration activities

• Collect geotechnical field data and prepare field documentation, logs, and daily reports

• Assist with slope stability assessments, geologic hazard evaluations, and site characterization studies

• Support geotechnical engineers and geologists with data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of technical reports

• Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements

• Routine travel throughout eastern Washington and surrounding project areas as needed

• Represent Apex in a safe and professional manner both internally and externally

• Prepare technical reports, figures, and project documentation
