About the role:

We're building the next chapter: an agentic platform that understands operational context and takes action, with the ambition to make physical operations increasingly autonomous. External Platform EMEA owns critical capabilities behind that transition. Depending on the team, your work could include:

• Reporting and intelligence. Own the reporting engine and products that turn the complexity of a fleet into answers customers can act on.

• Enterprise administration. Build how customers configure and control Samsara at scale, from permissions and device metadata to AI-assisted onboarding.

• Developer and agent platform. Build APIs, event systems, integrations, and tools that give applications and AI agents access to operational data and actions.

• Business-critical infrastructure. Own billing, license assignment, and usage metering: systems central to how Samsara sells, delivers, and grows its products.

The long-term opportunity is rooted in the physical world. Deployed hardware, data generated at the edge, and years of operational expertise form a foundation that's hard to replicate. As AI advances, it expands what we can build on that foundation. This is a place to develop deep engineering expertise while helping shape a platform with years of ambitious work ahead.

AI is also central to how we build. We expect engineers to push tools like Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor throughout design, implementation, testing, and production investigations, taking on more ambitious work while owning the quality of what they ship.

In this role, you will:

• Lead technical discussions with teammates to identify gaps in our telematics data platform and influence roadmap by setting direction and recommending solutions

• Collaborate with other engineering teams to make design decisions and understand downstream implications in our product to ensure a seamless customer experience

• Ship features that deliver value to customers, consistently refining them based on gathered feedback.

• Deliver full stack features across multiple tiers (front-end, back-end and mobile). GoLang, GraphQL, Typescript, React and ReactNative among other technologies. Direct experience with these technologies is not required.

• Be responsible for maintaining the production systems that your team owns and provide operational support.

• Make an impact on our core architecture, roadmap, and the wider engineering community.

• Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Minimum requirements for the role:

• 6+ years of relevant engineering experience, including hands-on work building and operating complex enterprise systems.

• A track record of turning partially defined customer or business challenges into technical direction, execution plans, and measurable outcomes with substantial autonomy.

• Strong system design judgment, including service boundaries, dependencies, failure modes, performance, and safe changes to production systems.

• Experience leading delivery through deep ownership of a critical system or coordination across multiple services and teams, balancing immediate needs with long-term architecture.

• Ability to improve other engineers’ effectiveness through mentoring, design reviews, and clear technical decisions.

• Extensive use of AI throughout engineering, including complex investigations and design exploration, with the ability to validate results and help teammates adopt effective workflows.

• Experience building customer-facing web and mobile workflow applications

• Reporting and data systems: Reporting products, analytics, query execution, data retrieval, or turning complex datasets into useful customer experiences.

• Enterprise administration: Permissions and access control, entity metadata, configuration frameworks, or customer onboarding and setup automation.

• Developer and agent platforms: Public APIs, event-driven systems, integrations, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, or tools that let AI agents access data and take action.
