<p><strong>Overview</strong></p> <p>In this position, you will utilize your experiences and development skills in Java and/or Scala to provide creative, logical, and practical solutions that yield innovative software product capabilities for ArcGIS Workflow Manager. As a software engineer, you will design and develop software used by organizations across diverse industries as an important part of their daily work. You will be part of a talented cross-functional team of collaborative and passionate engineers who deliver capabilities that enable our customers to make a difference in communities around the world.</p> <p>ArcGIS Workflow Manager is our premiere solution for scalable work and productivity tools across the Esri product suite. We empower organizations to centralize their business processes and automate manual tasks in GIS and non-GIS work to save time and increase production efficiency.</p> <p>The Professional Services division is the consulting and implementation arm of Esri. We break ground in new markets, push the technology envelope and ultimately deliver transformational solutions to high profile clients worldwide. The Professional Services organization is comprised of nearly 1,000 talented business and technical professionals who strive every day to help our users be successful.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Develop Scala web services to power user experience and geospatial workflows</li> <li>Design and prototype technical solutions following industry-standard practices for security, performance, scalability, fault-tolerance, and maintainability</li> <li>Ensure a high-quality codebase by contributing to team code reviews and writing unit tests</li> <li>As needed, implement functionality in other areas of the ArcGIS Workflow Manager product, using languages such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript or Python</li> <li>Participate actively in our agile development process including design reviews, planning, feature reviews, and retrospectives</li> <li>Provide as-needed support to our deployment team with AWS deployment activities for the SaaS offering of ArcGIS Workflow Manager</li> <li>Evolve your development skills by staying current with complementary programming languages, development methodologies, and technologies</li> </ul> <p><strong>Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of professional experience in a similar position supporting similar responsibilities</li> <li>Professional experience developing software components using Java or Scala</li> <li>Strong understanding of modern best practices for REST web service design and development, including websockets</li> <li>Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and best practices</li> <li>Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues effectively across different technical skillsets and areas of expertise</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills</li> <li>Effective time management and organizational skills</li> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or STEM related field </li> </ul> <p><strong>Recommended Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of or familiarity with Scala, actor systems, and/or the sbt build tool</li> <li>Experience in one or more of the following technologies: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, C#</li> <li>Experience using ArcGIS REST services or familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise software and capabilities</li> <li>Knowledge of Docker containers and orchestrators such as Kubernetes</li> <li>Understanding of agile software development practices</li> <li>Experience using GIS or mapping related software development</li> <li>Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or STEM related field</li> </ul> <p>#LI-DR5</p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p><strong>Total Rewards</strong></p> <p>Esri’s competitive total rewards strategy includes industry-leading health and welfare benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance for employees (and their families), 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, minimum accrual of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
