Today, Backblaze generates over $140 million in revenue and is the leading specialized storage cloud - managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>We are seeking a Sr. Manager of RevOps Accounting to own and lead the end-to-end revenue accounting function. This person will be a key partner to cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Legal, Product, and Engineering and will be instrumental in ensuring revenue recognition policies and operations scale effectively with the business.</p> <p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p> <p>Close Management</p> <ul> <li>Lead end-to-end revenue accounting operations, including but not limited to daily invoice/order approval and credit approval.</li> <li>Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close process, ensuring timely and accurate ledger entries, account receivable, allowance and related account reconciliations, and disclosures.</li> <li>Prepare revenue variance analysis, executive dashboards, and financial statement disclosures for leadership and board presentations.</li> </ul> <p>Process Ownership &amp; Sales Operations (The "RevOps" Engine)&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP for all revenu</li> <li>e streams (subscription, consumption-based billing, and other business models).</li> <li>Maintain, adhere and enforce the company’s global revenue recognition policies.</li> </ul> <p>Audit Support</p> <ul> <li>Lead the revenue portion of quarterly and annual external audit, serving as the main point of contact for auditors on operational revenue data.</li> <li>Accounts Receivable and Collection Management</li> <li>Collections Strategy: Design, implement, and monitor a proactive collections strategy to minimize Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and optimize working capital.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Delinquency Monitoring: Closely monitor AR aging schedules to identify delinquent accounts, trends in late payments, and potential credit risks.&nbsp;</li> <li>Escalated Follow-Ups: Act as the primary escalation point for high-value or highly sensitive delinquent accounts, directly negotiating payment plans or resolutions with customer finance teams.&nbsp;</li> <li>Processor Evaluation &amp; Migration: Lead the financial and operational evaluation of our merchant processing infrastructure, including building business cases for migrating from Stripe to alternative enterprise platforms (e.g., Adyen,<a href="http://checkout.com"> Checkout.com</a>, Airwallex).&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>Strategic Partnership, Technical Oversight &amp; Team Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Act as the primary deputy to the Director of Revenue Accounting, operationalizing new accounting policies and translating complex technical memorandums into scalable system workflows.&nbsp;</li> <li>Forecasting Collaboration: Partner with FP&amp;A and Director of Revenue Accounting to provide accurate data inputs for revenue and deferred revenue forecasting.</li> <li>Deal Desk Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Legal, and Sales Operations during contract negotiations to assess the accounting treatment and revenue impact before deals are finalized.</li> <li>Mentor and manage revenue accounting staff, ensuring alignment with business priorities and individual development goals.</li> </ul> <p>Systems Automation and Process Improvement</p> <ul> <li>System Ownership<strong>:</strong> Lead and support the implementation and optimization of revenue automation tools (NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management, Orb etc.).</li> <li>System Architecture<strong>:</strong> Collaborate with IT/Business Systems to implement, upgrade, or optimize revenue automation tools (NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management, Orb, Salesforce).</li> <li>Data Integrity<strong>:</strong> Ensure data cleanliness and seamless syncing between sales inputs and financial outputs.</li> <li>Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) Ownership<strong>:</strong> Streamline the workflows between CRM (Salesforce) and the Orb billing system to reduce billing errors and leakage.</li> <li>New Product Introductions (NPI)<strong>:</strong> Partner with Product and Sales Ops to ensure new pricing models, SKUs, and billing structures can be accurately tracked and automated by the accounting team.</li> <li>Leverage AI to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability of revenue operation process.</li> </ul> <p>SOX Compliance</p> <ul> <li>ASC 606 &amp; SOX Compliance: Drive the continuous improvement of internal controls over revenue recognition; own the operational…
