Aru Labs | Project-based opportunity
Aru Labs is looking for a Sound Designer / Re-recording Mixer for an upcoming independent web-series project being produced for a client.
This is a project-based opportunity, not a permanent position at Aru Labs.
The series is a character-driven story exploring startups, ambition, relationships, friendship, money and life.
We're looking for someone who can use sound to make the world of the series feel immersive, emotional and real.
What you'll do

• Design the overall soundscape for the series

• Clean and edit production dialogue

• Build ambience and environmental sound

• Create and source appropriate sound effects

• Enhance key emotional and dramatic moments through sound

• Work with production audio recorded on set

• Edit and balance dialogue, ambience, effects and music

• Perform final sound mixing and mastering

• Maintain consistent audio quality across episodes

• Prepare final audio masters for distribution

• Collaborate with the Director and Editor throughout post-production

The sound world
The series moves between different environments, including:

• Chennai and Indian city life

• Startup offices and coworking spaces

• Cafés and restaurants

• Nightlife

• Airports and travel

• Investor and business environments

• International cities

• Bali and other lifestyle locations

We want the sound to help the audience feel where the characters are, rather than simply filling silence.
What we're looking for

• Strong sound design portfolio

• Experience with narrative storytelling

• Strong dialogue editing and mixing skills

• Understanding of ambience, Foley and sound effects

• Professional knowledge of Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton, Fairlight or similar tools

• Good understanding of loudness and delivery standards

• Strong attention to detail

Experience with films, web series, short films, documentaries, commercials or music projects is welcome.
Working arrangement
Remote: Yes
Travel: Not required
Engagement: Project-based / contract
Post-production: Following principal photography
Potential production locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bali and other global creative and startup hubs
International and India-based candidates are welcome.

• Creator / Writer / Director

• Video Editor

• Director of Photography

• Production Sound Recordist

• Colorist

• Composer / Music Producer

Ideal candidate
You might be a good fit if you:

• Think about sound as part of storytelling

• Know how to make environments feel alive

• Understand when sound should be subtle and when it should drive a scene

• Have strong dialogue cleanup and mixing skills

• Can work independently in a remote setup

• Are comfortable collaborating with a first-time Director

• Have strong attention to detail
