Specific scope:
• Architectures supporting hundreds of thousands of requests per second.
• Horizontally scalable farms of software load balancers.
• Load balancing a single application exposed through a single IP address.
• Design approaches such as Anycast, hierarchical load balancing, or other relevant architectures.
• Understanding the design, advantages, disadvantages, and trade-offs of these approaches.
• Limited header rewriting requirements.
The opportunity would initially involve short-term technical consulting, with potential for further work as the project progresses.
Requirements
• Strong experience with F5 BIG-IP
• Hands-on experience with HAProxy, NGINX or similar software load balancers
• Strong knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, TCP and SSL termination
• Experience designing high-throughput, highly available load-balancing platforms
• Knowledge of Anycast, horizontal scaling and multi-tier load-balancing architectures
• Experience with header/content rewriting is beneficial
Key requirement:We are specifically looking for someone with hands-on experience building and operating solutions of this type at scale, rather than someone offering a theoretical assessment.
