Join Coupang now to create an epic experience in this always-on, high-tech, and hyper-connected world.</p> <p><strong>Role Overview </strong></p> <p>The Search and Discovery team is responsible for creating a world class search and discovery shopping experience for our customers, from “intent” based shopping to delighting the customer with serendipitous product discovery on every visit.</p> <p>We are obsessed with optimizing the entire search customer journey, from query understanding and search relevance to personalized and category/mission aware search and recommendation experiences. We believe the experience of finding the right fresh groceries should be personal and different from shopping for a new laptop or your next pair of jeans. Search and Recommendations drive over 70% of product discovery for our millions of daily customers, so the scale and impact of our work is massive!</p> <p><strong>What You Will Do</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own the Data Science function within a core pillar of Coupang’s Search and Discovery org</li> <li>Analyze how customers interact with Coupang’s search results to determine how to improve customer experience and business performance</li> <li>Lead experiment ideation, design, measurement, and interpretation</li> <li>Build datasets to increase the speed and accuracy with which the team analyzes data</li> <li>Understand the nuances of ML ranking models, LLMs, and more to determine how our core search product can be optimized</li> </ul> <p><strong>What we are looking for</strong></p> <ul> <li>Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or a closely related field</li> <li>8 years of Data Scientist experience in customer-facing technology companies</li> <li>Expertise in experimentation and statistics</li> <li>Strong coding skills, including SQL and R/Python</li> <li>Experience with massive datasets, with an understanding of how to optimize data extraction</li> <li>Ability to communicate data concepts simply and succinctly to cross-functional team members, up to the C-suite</li> <li><strong> </strong>Understanding of ML concepts, and how different model configurations affect model outcomes</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong coding skills, including SQL and R/Python</li> <li>Experience with massive datasets, with an understanding of how to optimize data extraction</li> <li>Ability to communicate data concepts simply and succinctly to cross-functional team members, up to the C-suite</li> <li>Understanding of ML concepts, and how different model configurations affect model outcomes</li> <li>Experience in e-commerce and/or search</li> <li>Strong coding skills, including SQL and R/Python</li> </ul> <p><strong>Pay & Benefits</strong></p> <p>Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.</p> <p>The base pay for this position ranges from $174,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $290,000/year in our highest geographic market.
