ROLE SUMMARY

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join our newly formed Belgrade team to build and scale our Over-the-Air (OTA) platform. Our system already orchestrates mission-critical updates for hundreds of thousands of vehicles globally, and your mission is to own significant features across the stack and help the local team grow its ownership of the platform. You will build resilient, high-throughput cloud services in Java, Go, and Python, while shipping user-facing workflows in TypeScript and React. This role is ideal for a builder who thrives on driving complex initiatives from concept to delivery and empowering a growing engineering hub in a high-scale production environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Drive end-to-end delivery of significant features across backend (Java/Spring Boot, Go, Python) and frontend (React, TypeScript, GraphQL), helping the local team build ownership across the platform.

- Design and scale cross-system solutions, contributing to architectural discussions and defining technical approaches that anticipate long-term maintenance and scaling needs.

- Solve ambiguous problems by breaking them down into actionable work and making informed trade-offs between quality, velocity, and risk.

- Ensure system reliability by building reliable release workflows and optimizing application-level observability using tools like Datadog.

- Deploy and operate containerized services in an AWS-hosted Kubernetes environment, understanding cross-system impacts.

- Elevate engineering standards by conducting thorough code and design reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience: Five (5) years of professional software development experience with a track record of owning significant features and ensuring production-quality outcomes.

- Education: Four (4) year college or university degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required.

- Backend Development: Experience building production-grade applications using Java (Spring Boot), Go, or Python.

- Frontend Development: Experience building user interfaces with React, TypeScript, and GraphQL in a modern web application codebase.

- API & Architecture: Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and REST API design, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs in complex architectures.

- Data Systems: Experience working with relational and NoSQL database technologies (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc.).

- Cloud & Containers: Comfort deploying and operating services in AWS-backed environments using Docker and Kubernetes.

Payments are discretionary and not guaranteed; actual amounts depend on company results and the terms of the plan in effect, and require active employment at the time of payout. This role is also eligible for equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), subject to board approval and the terms of our equity incentive plans, including applicable vesting requirements.
