As one of Abnormal's fastest-growing divisions, ISPM is seeking a <strong>Senior Software Engineer</strong> to drive the technical roadmap and guide an engineering team in developing the next generation of identity security defenses.</p> <h2>About the Role</h2> <p>This is a hands-on technical leadership role at the intersection of <strong>identity security</strong> and <strong>distributed systems engineering</strong>. You'll write code, design systems, set technical standards, and mentor engineers — while partnering closely with Product Management to define what we build next.</p> <p>You'll own the full stack: backend services that continuously evaluate millions of identity configurations, a frontend used daily by enterprise security teams, and the data infrastructure that powers posture scoring and proactive risk remediation.</p> <h2>What You'll Do</h2> <h3>Technical Strategy & Leadership</h3> <ul> <li>Direct the ISPM technical roadmap by converting product requirements into robust system designs, mapping out implementation phases, and making strategic build-vs-extend decisions.</li> <li>Architect, design, and scale core identity security posture systems.</li> <li>Cultivate and drive cross-functional technical alliances with platform teams across the security and identity stack.</li> <li>Author, review, and evaluate technical design documents while facilitating architectural discussions and design reviews.</li> <li>Establish, promote, and uphold engineering best practices across the sub-team, focusing on testing, code quality, API design, and observability.</li> </ul> <h3>Software Engineering & Architecture</h3> <ul> <li>Construct and scale high-performance backend services using <strong>Go</strong> — including event-driven systems, REST/gRPC APIs, cron jobs, and integration layers.</li> <li>Build and maintain user-facing interfaces using <strong>React/TypeScript</strong> — focusing on policy dashboards, identity visualization, and mitigation workflows.</li> <li>Design, model, and optimize database schemas capable of handling large-scale multi-tenant identity workloads.</li> <li>Implement event-driven architectures using <strong>Kafka</strong> as a message queue to manage asynchronous workflows and ensure continuous evaluation of identity postures.</li> <li>Maintain operational reliability and service health through standard runbooks, feature flags, and robust monitoring setups.</li> </ul> <h3>Team Collaboration & Delivery</h3> <ul> <li>Support, mentor, and guide a distributed team of 3-4 engineers located across India and Singapore.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with Product Managers and EM to align on technical strategy, prioritize roadmaps, and deliver quarterly key results and milestones.</li> <li>Own operational health for all services — on-call rotation, incident response, and SLO management</li> <li>Serve as the team representative during organizational alignment, review sessions, and client interactions.</li> </ul> <h2>Must-Have Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li><strong>7+ years</strong> of software development experience, including at least <strong>2+ years</strong> in a tech lead or senior technical leadership role</li> <li>Proven track record of <strong>mentoring engineers</strong> and elevating the overall technical standards of the team</li> <li>Exceptional system architecture skills—experienced in designing and running scalable, multi-tenant, event-driven distributed systems at scale</li> <li>Deep hands-on experience with <strong>Kafka</strong> or similar high-throughput event-streaming technologies</li> <li>Extensive backend production experience with <strong>Go</strong>—writing idiomatic services with clean design patterns, thorough testing, and robust error handling</li> <li>Production-level <strong>React and TypeScript</strong> skills, with the capability to drive and own user-facing features end-to-end</li> <li>Strong proficiency in <strong>SQL and PostgreSQL</strong>—including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling for multi-tenant workloads</li> <li>Superb communication abilities—expert at detailing technical trade-offs to PMs, presenting architecture to leadership, and writing comprehensive design documents</li> <li>High tolerance for <strong>ambiguity</strong>—adept at making decisions with partial data and iterating quickly</li> </ul> <h2>Nice-to-Have Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Experience in <strong>identity security, IAM, or security posture management</strong> - familiarity will be good. </li> <li>Background in <strong>cybersecurity products</strong> </li> <li>Experience with <strong>gRPC/Protobuf</strong> API design</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>AI-assisted software development</strong> workflows and tools</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>#LI-MZ1</p><div…
