Therefore, we have guidelines on how AI can be appropriately used during your application and interviews which can be found <a href="https://insider.id.me/candidate-ai-use-in-interviewing/" target="_blank">here</a>.</span></p></div><h2><strong>Role Overview</strong></h2> <p>ID.me is seeking a <strong>Senior Software Engineer (SDE-IV)</strong> to join the <strong>Developer Portal</strong> team, where we're building the self-service platform that enables organizations to rapidly integrate trusted identity verification.</p> <p>Identity proofing is fundamentally complex and integrating an identity proofing flow requires many steps while meeting standard bodies assurance requirements.</p> <p>The Developer Portal at <a href="http://id.me">ID.me</a> is the product that brings the pieces together for the external developer.</p> <p>Today, much of that onboarding is still performed manually through in-house Solutions Consultants that have many other responsibilities. Our mission is to enable customers and their developers to register their application, configure their identity needs, test in a production-like sandbox, and launch to production—all through a modern self-service experience.</p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own a significant portion of that platform end-to-end. You'll independently drive medium-to-large initiatives from ambiguous problem definition through production, serve as the technical owner for the systems you build, and help define the future of how developers integrate with ID.me.</p> <p>You'll work across a modern micro-frontend platform built with <strong>Next.js</strong> and <strong>React</strong>, alongside Java backend other legacy services (mostly Ruby) powering identity, organizations, applications, authorization, and developer APIs. Previous Java and Ruby experience is welcome but not required—we value engineers who are comfortable learning whatever technology the problem requires.</p> <p>This position is based in our <strong>Mountain View, CA</strong> office five days per week.</p> <h1><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h1> <h2><strong>Build Self-Service Developer Experiences</strong></h2> <p>Design, build, and operate the experiences that allow customers to onboard themselves to the ID.me platform. Take loosely defined problems, collaborate with Product and Design to clarify requirements, and independently deliver production-ready solutions from design through launch.</p> <h2><strong>Own the Developer Experience</strong></h2> <p>Treat <strong>time first successful self-service onboarding</strong>, that results first time successful verification by their customers,<strong> as the team's north-star metric</strong></p> <h2><strong>Build Platform Infrastructure</strong></h2> <p>Extend the platform powering the Developer Portal, including:</p> <ul> <li>Micro-frontends</li> <li>Micro-service backends</li> <li>Shared UI component libraries</li> <li>Feature-flag driven migrations</li> <li>Versioned API contracts for our customers</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Authentication, Authorization &amp; Identity</strong></h2> <p>Build secure Developer Portal capabilities, including:</p> <ul> <li>OAuth 2.0</li> <li>OpenID Connect</li> <li>Enterprise SSO</li> <li>Multi-tenant authorization</li> <li>Relationship-based access control</li> <li>Session management</li> <li>Credential management</li> <li>Identity-aware application provisioning</li> </ul> <p>Partner closely with…
