You’ll be at the forefront of our product-led growth strategy, acting as a key driver in how we test, learn, and scale. You'll report to an Engineering Manager who's invested in your growth, gives you real feedback, and creates the conditions for you to do your best work. In this role, you'll shape high-velocity technical decisions across product, design, and engineering to deliver real value to users. AI is part of the toolkit here, you use it actively, you know when to reach for it, and you hold the bar on what ships.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead other developers and the product, design, and engineering (PDE) squad in ideating, refining, and building minimum viable features</li> <li>Make pragmatic technical tradeoffs that prioritize learning from experiments and prototypes faster without sacrificing core system stability</li> <li>Implement robust tracking and analytics for new features, partnering with PMs and Analysts to review experiment results and user behavior data to iterate on the product</li> <li>Improve application performance, reliability, and data integrity by addressing root causes and reducing system complexity</li> <li>Set and reinforce strong engineering practices through code reviews, testing, and consistent technical standards</li> <li>Mentor other developers through feedback and technical guidance, helping the team make better decisions over time</li> <li>Use modern tools, including AI, thoughtfully and responsibly to reduce friction and improve delivery</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience</li> <li>The ability to take ambiguous business problems and turn them into lightweight, testable technical solutions </li> <li>Comfort working in large, evolving codebases and improving existing systems over time</li> <li>Sound technical judgment when balancing speed, quality, performance, and long-term maintainability</li> <li>Clear communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners</li> <li>Experience mentoring other developers or leading technical discussions within a team</li> </ul> <p><strong>It’d be even cooler if you had:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in designing, building, and running pricing and feature entitlement experiments </li> <li>Experience working with PLG experiment measurement tools like Growthbook, Statsig, or LaunchDarkly</li> <li>Founding or early experience at a startup</li> </ul> <p>This role is part of an existing vacancy and is part of our current hiring plan.</p> <p><strong>Compensation</strong></p> <p>The base compensation range for this position is CAD $130,000 to $180,000. This range reflects the full growth path for the role, from building core skills, to accomplished performance, through to role mastery. We typically target the accomplished level when hiring externally. At this level, individuals bring relevant experience in the role, demonstrate strong job-related skills, operate with confidence and consistency, and are able to deliver impact with limited ramp-up while still having meaningful opportunity to grow.</p> <p>Compensation at 7shifts is performance and growth-driven. As you develop your skills and expand your impact over time, your compensation grows with you. Your specific placement within this range is based on your job-related skills, knowledge, and experience, as well as our internal equity assessment.
