About this role
About the Company
Our client is a leading Commerce Advertising platform, connecting premium publishers with 80,000+ advertisers across 200+ networks worldwide. Backed by a major private equity firm, its family of specialist companies covers the full commerce advertising value chain — from content monetization to performance and affiliate marketing.
They are now building a new content destination website in the vein of top10.com, Forbes Advisor, and BuyersGuide.org: an editorially driven, affiliate-monetized property designed to scale rapidly. This role sits at the very foundation of that growth engine.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Media Buyer (Search) with deep expertise in paid search to own and scale acquisition (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads) for a new content site from day one.
This is not a pure execution role. You will act as a key partner to engineering and product teams, ensuring the technical foundation — conversion tracking, pixel implementation, data layer architecture, and signal quality — is built correctly so that automated bidding and machine learning can perform at their best.
If you thrive at the intersection of media buying, analytics, and technical collaboration, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
Campaign Strategy & Execution
• Plan, launch, and optimize paid search campaigns across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads targeting high-intent users in affiliate verticals
• Own full-funnel keyword strategy — from discovery to transactional queries aligned with affiliate economics
• Develop and test ad copy, landing page messaging, and audience overlays (RLSA, Customer Match, in-market segments)
• Build and maintain a structured experimentation roadmap (A/B and multivariate testing)
• Manage significant budgets with accountability to revenue, CPC, and tCPA/tROAS targets
Conversion Tracking & Signal Quality
• Partner with engineering to design and implement a robust conversion tracking infrastructure
• Ensure accurate attribution of clicks, affiliate conversions, and revenue events
• Define data layer schema and event taxonomy for clean, granular signal passing
• QA and troubleshoot pixel implementation, tag firing, and attribution discrepancies
• Implement Enhanced Conversions and Conversion Adjustments
• Collaborate with Google and Microsoft technical teams to maximize signal quality and capabilities
Automated Bidding & Algorithm Management
• Design bidding strategies (tCPA, tROAS, Max Conversions) aligned with affiliate economics
• Structure campaigns and segmentation to support algorithm learning and performance
• Manage learning phases and optimize conversion volume thresholds
• Monitor and interpret Smart Bidding performance — knowing when to trust vs. guide the algorithm
• Define conversion actions and values that reflect true business outcomes
Analytics, Reporting & Collaboration
• Build dashboards in GA4 and BI tools linking spend to revenue, LTV, and engagement
• Deliver clear, insight-driven performance reporting to leadership
• Identify growth opportunities and recommend strategic actions
• Stay up to date with platform updates, betas, and industry trends
What You Bring
Required
• 5+ years of hands-on paid search experience (Google Ads & Microsoft Ads)
• Proven experience with Smart Bidding (tCPA, tROAS, Max Conversions)
• Strong technical expertise in conversion tracking (GTM, GA4, data layers, pixel QA, Enhanced Conversions)
• Experience passing conversion values and signals back to ad platforms to optimize performance
• Background in affiliate, comparison, or performance content environments (e.g. finance, insurance, SaaS, e-commerce, home services)
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Solid analytical skills (Excel/Sheets, GA4, BI tools)
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, zero-to-one environment
Nice to Have
• Experience with Google Ads API, scripts, or Python automation
• Familiarity with affiliate platforms (Impact, CJ, Awin, Partnerize)
• Experience with server-side tracking or Conversion APIs
• Previous involvement in launching a content/media property
• Knowledge of tools like SEMrush, SpyFu, or similar
Who You Are
• Systems thinker — you understand the full loop from click to signal quality
• Proactively technical — you define tracking requirements, not just execute them
• High ownership mindset — strategic and hands-on when needed
• Experiment-driven — you test, learn, and scale quickly
• Balanced — you know when speed matters and when precision is critical
What's on Offer
• Foundational role in building a new content property within a well-funded organization
• Access to a large global advertiser network and deep affiliate expertise
• High-impact, cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering
• Competitive compensation package
• Fully remote, global team
