The Role

A z/OS System Programmer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing technical support of IBM z/OS operating systems and related subsystems. The role ensures high availability, performance, stability, and security of enterprise mainframe environments.

Responsibilities:

Upgrading, maintaining and supporting z/OS operating systems
Upgrading, maintaining and supporting ISV products
Providing technical support for customer, implementing changes and resolving assigned problems (may involve some after hours and weekend work)
Providing 24x7 after hours on-call support as required for products supported by the team
Personal compliance and ownership on security, audit and systems integrity posture
Highlighting areas for improvement in current processes, and implementing improvements

As a Mainframe Systems Programmer at Kyndryl, you'll have the opportunity to shape the very foundation of the technology that drives our world. You'll be a master troubleshooter and problem-solver, with the skills to fix even the most complex issues that arise.

In this role, you'll provide the underlying Mainframe operating system platform programming support that forms the backbone of our applications. You'll guide functional objectives on technologies and make use of your expert knowledge to drive solutions to complex problems.

As a leader in this field, you'll also be expected to conduct RCA discussions for the products you work on and provide ongoing technical and operational guidance to lead professional work teams.

Required Skills and Experience

Mainframe systems programming
strong understanding of z/OS services structure, Parallel sysplex, Catalog management
experience with products installation, configuration, and maintenance
PARMLIB configuration and JES2 customization
z/OS HW, LPAR, HMC, REXX
Ability to support in solving problems and implementing changes on z/OS environments
Experience with BMC and Broadcom products
Advanced knowledge of SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL
Excellent written and verbal skills
Ability to take the lead in problem solving and coordination of multi-disciplinary groups
strong analytical and problem solving skills
