We are now looking for a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Process and Water Engineering, with a particular focus on digital water solutions and technologies, for a permanent full-time position. Role Description
As a Senior Lecturer, you will primarily teach on campus and design pedagogy, including online learning materials, laboratory work and project work. You will also help develop the curriculum to meet the evolving needs of the modern workforce and participate in multidisciplinary projects with industrial partners.
Your role combines theory and practice in teaching, laboratory instruction, thesis supervision, RDI activities, and project collaboration at Metropolias Myyrmäki campus. You will work closely with companies and other stakeholders in the process, chemical, environmental, and water technology sectors.
The position may also include teaching and collaboration with partner universities abroad (including international travel), as well as participation in education export and business-related activities.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant Masters degree in technology (e.g. MSc or MEng)
- At least three years of relevant industrial work experience
- Strong understanding of industry needs and an established professional network in the process and/or water sector
- Ability to work directly with companies and integrate real industrial cases into teaching, research and development
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a diverse, international environment
- Fluency in English and willingness to learn Finnish (support provided)
- Professional Teacher Education qualification. If you do not yet have the required pedagogical studies for teachers, these can be completed alongside your work within three years of being appointed.
What We Value
- Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, EngD or equivalent)
- Experience in
- process, chemical, environmental or water engineering, or related industrial operations
- industrial processes, raw materials, process balances, quality management, HSEQ, product and process safety, and riskbased thinkingmaintenance interfaces, CAD tools, technical drawings, and process documentation (e.g. PFDs, P&IDs)
- Interest in
- digital water solutions and modern tools (e.g. monitoring systems, sensor and process data, modelling, data analytics, AI, simulation)
- material and energy efficiency, process design and industrial operating environments
- Genuine enthusiasm for sustainable process and water engineering and the green transition
- Proven experience of industry collaboration and ability to build and maintain company relationships
- Motivation to develop teaching and applied learning environments, and to use pedagogically sound methods
- Willingness to develop your own expertise, stay current in your field and bring new ideas into teaching and learning

The salary and terms of employment are determined in accordance with the Collective Agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences. The starting salary for a Senior Lecturer is typically between EUR 4,500 and 6,000 per month, depending on the selected candidates experience, qualifications, and background.
