You’ll work independently on complex components, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and help set best practices for firmware quality and performance.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Design &amp; Implement:</strong> Develop and enhance OpenBMC firmware in C/C++ for CoreWeave’s custom server platforms, contributing to key subsystems such as sensor management, power and thermal control, networking, and system monitoring.</li> <li><strong>Integrate &amp; Debug:</strong> Collaborate with hardware design, platform software, and reliability teams to integrate firmware with new hardware and validate performance across diverse environments.</li> <li><strong>Optimize: </strong>BMC Performance and <strong>Harden</strong> Security</li> <li><strong>Root Cause Analysis:</strong> Perform deep system-level debugging using tools such as GDB, JTAG, or logic analyzers to resolve cross-layer issues between hardware, firmware, and OS.</li> <li><strong>Automate &amp; Validate:</strong> Contribute to continuous integration and automated testing frameworks for OpenBMC build and validation.</li> <li><strong>Document &amp; Share:</strong> Maintain clear technical documentation and participate in design reviews to ensure consistency and maintainability across the firmware codebase.</li> <li><strong>Collaborate Broadly:</strong> Partner with other ICs and technical leads across CoreWeave’s infrastructure engineering, hardware design, and operations teams to align firmware capabilities with platform and datacenter goals.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Who You Are</strong></h3> <p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Experience:</strong> 5+ of professional experience in firmware or embedded systems development, including direct work with Linux-based OpenBMC firmware.</li> <li><strong>Education:</strong> Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.</li> <li>Proficiency in <strong>C/C++</strong> for embedded systems.</li> <li>Familiarity with hardware interfaces and protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, IPMI, DMTF Redfish)</li> <li>Experience with <strong>hardware bring-up</strong>, board-level debugging, and sensor integration.</li> <li>Experience with Linux driver development</li> <li>Comfort with debugging tools such as GDB JTAG and debugging over serial or remote consoles.</li> <li>Basic scripting skills in <strong>Python</strong> or <strong>Bash</strong> for build automation and validation.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking; able to break down complex system-level issues.</li> <li>Communicates effectively with peers across hardware, firmware, and operations teams.</li> <li>Working knowledge of source code control system such as Git</li> <li>Self-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality, maintainable code.</li> <li>Thrives in a fast-paced environment and balances multiple priorities effectively.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Preferred Qualification</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience developing CI/CD pipeline for firmware builds and regression testing</li> <li>Exposure to large-scale datacenter or HPC environments</li> <li>Contributions to open-source firmware projects or upstream Linux development</li> <li>Hands-on experience with <strong>OpenBMC</strong>, <strong>Yocto Project</strong>, and embedded Linux environments.</li> </ul> <p><span data-sheets-root="1"><strong>The base salary range for this role is $153,000 to $242,000. </strong>The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience,…
