You’ll lead a squad of engineers&nbsp;through the complexities of modern backend development, and ensure that our frontend experiences are supported by high- performance APIs, secure data modeling, and optimized cloud infrastructure.&nbsp;Your "superpower"&nbsp;should be building robust, scalable server-side environments that power high-traffic&nbsp;enterprise applications.&nbsp;<br><br>To ensure success, you should have<strong> extensive experience with designing architectures and web applications, ensuring the team delivers robust, scalable and secure solutions.</strong> <br>This role involves <strong>hands-on coding </strong>along with a team of 4-5 engineers, maintaining high quality and standards across the full stack to deliver high-performance technologies.<br><br><strong>Who You’ll Be Working With</strong><br>You’ll work as a Senior Engineering Manager alongside client stakeholders, project&nbsp;managers, designers and engineering teams to guide projects from early discovery&nbsp;through delivery. You’ll be a key technical point of contact, helping clients and&nbsp;internal teams align on approach and execution while ensuring solutions are&nbsp;practical, scalable, and well-built.</p> <hr> <p><strong>Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years of hands-on experience in backend or full-stack with backend heavy&nbsp;development, leading technical delivery.</li> <li>Must have <strong>active hands-on experience</strong> alongside a leading team of engineers and be comfortable leading a team of 5 or more engineers</li> <li>Strong experience with&nbsp;<strong>Node.js, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python,</strong> and modern frontend &amp; CMS frameworks.</li> <li>Expertise in software architecture, database systems (<strong>BigQuery/SQL/NoSQL</strong>), and cloud-native applications.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with <strong>cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)</strong>&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience with containerized tools such as <strong>Docker, Kubernetes, </strong>and CI/CD pipelines.</li> <li>Proven ability to design and explain system architecture for complex web and&nbsp;cloud-based applications.</li> <li>Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders to translate&nbsp;requirements into technical solutions.</li> <li>Solid understanding of databases including SQL, NoSQL and analytics&nbsp;platforms like BigQuery.</li> <li>A strong track record of guiding teams through complex technical challenges&nbsp;and successful project delivery.</li> <li>Comfortable mentoring engineers, reviewing code, and establishing and maintaining high standards of code quality, performance, and security across all project deliverables.</li> <li>Good track record in terms of finding slow code &amp; vulnerabilities during code review</li> <li>Demonstrated ability in delivery, scalability, and solve complex technical challenges within enterprise level projects</li> <li>Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both&nbsp;technical and non-technical partners.</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.</li> </ul> <p><strong><br>Need another reason to hit the “apply” button?</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Codal is a global agency with over 200 employees, and offices in the US, Canada, the UK, and India&nbsp;</li> <li>We regularly host happy hours, dinners, excursions, and other company events to unwind after a hard day at work</li> <li>Office snacks and drinks + a fancy Bevi water machine with flavored water&nbsp;</li> <li>We offer Medical, Life, Dental/Vision, and many more insurance types&nbsp;</li> <li>Employer 401k match - 4%&nbsp;</li> <li>A recreational group that regularly competes in city leagues for softball and volleyball&nbsp;</li> <li>An office in the heart of downtown Chicago with a gym, food court, Walgreens, rooftop bar, outdoor sports court, and other amenities</li> <li>Working hybrid for in-person collaboration and sprint-planning days</li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p>We continually review ranges to address skills, experience and markets.
