As the Senior Director, Credit Risk, you will lead the strategic oversight and execution of Neo’s Existing Customer Management (ECM) and Collections Strategies functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Credit Risk Officer, you will balance business growth objectives with prudent risk governance—ensuring our credit policies, portfolio management methods, and collections strategies remain resilient and responsive to macroeconomic conditions.
You will lead a team of high-performing risk strategists and analysts, driving continuous improvement through advanced analytics, scorecards, automated decisioning, and testing frameworks.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Own Existing Customer Risk: Develop, maintain, and execute strategies across credit line management (CLM), overlimit rules, cash advances, and collections/recoveries.
- Manage Decision Engines: Oversee real-time decisioning engines (automated rules, custom logic, and third-party tools) that make real-time approve/decline decisions for existing cardholders and borrowers.
- Lead Test-and-Learn Agendas: Design, execute, and monitor A/B tests and champion/challenger strategies to optimize portfolio yield and minimize credit losses.
- Bureau Management: Serve as the primary leader for partner relationships with major credit bureaus (e.g., TransUnion, Equifax) regarding credit risk strategies, data feeds, and technical integrations.
Analytics, Modeling & Loss Forecasting
- Acquisition & Behavioural Scorecards: Partner with the Data Analytics team to build, validate, implement, and track custom credit risk scorecards.
- Credit Loss & Stress Testing: Support Credit Risk Portfolio Management in refining credit loss models, provisioning forecasts, and scenario-based stress testing.
- Dashboarding & Insights: Create and maintain monthly executive dashboard books tracking delinquency metrics (roll rates, 30+, 90+), utilization at charge-off, cure rates, and recovery yields.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Operations
- Operations Partnership: Work directly with the Credit Operations team to share strategy updates, monitor delinquent population trends, and oversee execution across collection buckets and Financial Solutions (FinSol) programs.
- Cross-Functional Change Catalyst: Lead large-scale credit risk implementations across product, engineering, and compliance, integrating core risk practices into all new product initiatives.
- Governance & Risk Controls: Ensure 100% compliance across all risk controls, regulatory requirements, and committee meetings, maintaining a clear audit trail for all testing and policy changes.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Proven Risk Leadership: 8+ years of progressive credit risk experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing ECM, credit line strategies, or collections analytics within retail banking, fintech, or consumer lending.
- Technical Mastery: Deep hands-on experience with automated decisioning engines, loss forecasting models, credit bureau data, and scorecard implementation.
- Data-Driven Strategy: Expertise running A/B testing frameworks, evaluating roll rates (30+, 90+), and managing risk-adjusted interest margins across diverse credit products.
- Regulatory & Compliance Acumen: Solid understanding of credit policies, governance standards, and Canadian regulatory frameworks.
- People Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and elevate analytical teams, fostering a culture of technical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Change Resilience: Ability to adapt functional strategies quickly during economic shifts or operational disruptions while maintaining team momentum.
- Executive Influence: Confident representation of the risk function in front of C-suite executives, board committees, and external regulatory partners.
- Technology Vision: Active interest in discovering and implementing next-generation analytical software, machine learning tools, and decision systems to maintain a competitive edge.
