About this role
About The Company
goop is a lifestyle platform dedicated to exploration, curation, and groundbreaking conversation. From its award-winning beauty and fashion lines to its expansive editorial lens, goop invites women to embrace the process of becoming, and to discover deep joy in the pursuit of pleasure, beauty, and growth in all phases of life.
Gwyneth Paltrow began goop in the fall of 2008 as a weekly newsletter. It has expanded into a beauty, fashion, and food business that’s also known for its products, curation, podcast, TV shows, live events, and retail stores.
About You
You are a seasoned dealmaker who thrives at the intersection of brand, commerce, and culture. You've operated on both sides of the table, and you know the difference between a deal that looks good on paper and one that actually works once you run the waterfall. You love a startup environment and operate as a true generalist, equally comfortable building a valuation model, drafting a term sheet, or building the Notion template that makes the next deal faster. Your primary function is supporting goop's Co-CEOs across corporate matters, leases, licensing deals, and large strategic deals. You have an entrepreneur's or intrapreneur's instincts: high ownership, high urgency, and a builder's mentality, thriving in an organization that is in active build mode, with new product lines, channels, and categories, and a steady flow of partnership and investment activity. You're a business person first: an MBA mindset and a background in corporate affairs, business affairs, corporate development, or investment banking is exactly the kind of pedigree we're looking for. You're fluent in Finance and Legal, internal counsel and outside counsel alike, and you move deals through redlines, diligence, and signature without losing momentum or leverage. You operate in founder mode — high-agency, low-ego, allergic to bureaucracy, and energized by ambiguity rather than slowed by it. You have high EQ, razor-sharp instincts, and a genuine passion for wellness, beauty, and the way goop shows up in the world.
About the Role
The goop ecosystem spans goop, Goop Beauty, GWYN, and Gwyneth's personal ventures, across media, tech, CPG, brand, and fashion. The Senior Director, Corporate Business Development works alongside the Co-CEOs on goop's most important corporate matters, leases, licensing deals, and large strategic deals — evaluating new business channels and negotiating in and out of deals across the organization. This is a hands-on role: drafting term sheets, building budgets and waterfall models, and running analysis and diligence so every deal has the structure, documentation, and follow-through behind it. As goop's legal function evolves, this role also takes on greater ownership of deal-specific legal coordination, partnering closely with outside counsel on governance and complex terms so nothing falls through the cracks. This person operates with a high degree of autonomy and real ownership over execution — a trusted extension of the Co-CEOs' capacity to build and grow the business — with a clear path to VP as scope and trust grow.
Key Responsibilities
• Work alongside the Co-CEOs as the day-to-day point of contact on corporate matters, leases, licensing deals, and large strategic deals — executing, managing, marshaling, auditing, and evaluating opportunities.
• Source and structure partnerships aligned with goop's revenue and growth objectives — brand collaborations, licensing, content distribution, co-branded commerce, and deficit financing structures.
• Draft and negotiate deals end to end, from initial terms through definitive agreement — structuring sophisticated commercial and investment terms including royalty structures, profit waterfalls, earn-outs, equity structures, and joint venture agreements.
• Build the financial models and budgets that underpin every deal — valuation, scenario analysis, cap tables, and waterfall models — to inform decisions and support executive and board review.
• Distill complex deals into a few clear slides — sharp analysis and a tight narrative focused on what matters for the decision.
• Evaluate new business channels and strategic acquisition, investment, and joint venture opportunities that extend goop's reach in wellness, beauty, and lifestyle across goop, Goop Beauty, and GWYN.
• Run due diligence on active deals, coordinating Finance, internal Legal, and outside counsel on strategic fit, financial impact, and risk.
• Serve as the connective tissue between the business, Finance, and Legal — driving term sheet redlines, deal documentation, and closing checklists to…
