Senior Developer, MS Dynamics 365 F&O - Atlanta, GA

The onsite Senior Developer is responsible for the ongoing development, integration and support of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations at Cortland. The role joins during the current F&O implementation, which provides a structured ramp into the platform, the solution design and Cortland's financial processes, and owns F&O development after go live. The role leads offshore developers and partners with the Senior Technical/Functional Lead on solution design.

Analysis and Solution Design

• Translate functional designs into detailed technical designs and build plans.

• Assess the technical impact of proposed customizations on financial data integrity, such as how an extension affects ledger posting, financial dimensions, or downstream data entities, in addition to standard technical feasibility.

• Provide effort estimates for enhancements, integrations, and technical development activities.

• Identify design and build risks early and recommend practical alternatives.

Development

• Independently design, develop, and implement customizations, extensions, integrations, and reports within D365 F&O, using extension patterns (Chain of Command, event handlers, table extensions) rather than over-layering.

• Build and maintain data entities and DMF packages for data integration and bulk data operations, including staging tables and validation rules.

• Implement Business Events and Dataverse dual-write / virtual entity integrations, working alongside the Enterprise Integration & Automation (EIA) team where needed.

• Prepare detailed technical design documentation prior to development.

• Follow established development standards, best practices, and quality expectations.

• Support environment management, code migration, build processes, and deployment activities.

Testing, Deployment, and Support

• Perform unit testing to ensure developed solutions meet quality standards before delivery, including checks that ledger postings and financial dimension data remain correct and balanced.

• Troubleshoot issues, execute application traces, and perform performance tuning as needed.

• Provide ongoing production support, issue resolution and enhancement delivery.

Leadership and Collaboration

• Mentor junior team members and support team development.

• Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented, and service-focused team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

• 5+ years of hands-on technical experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, including development, integrations, and deployment support.

• Demonstrated experience building or extending at least two of the following financial modules: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash and Bank Management, or Project Accounting.

• Experience working in project-based environments with direct interaction with business and functional stakeholders.

• Prior experience leading technical workstreams or mentoring junior resources preferred.

• Real estate, property management, or fund accounting industry experience preferred, but not required.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Understanding of business process analysis, solution design, and process flows.

• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

• Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate, or equivalent, preferred but not required.

Technical Skills

• Experience with three or more of the following technologies:

• Other object-oriented programming languages

• Experience with Azure DevOps / Visual Studio / Lifecycle Services (LCS) setup and configuration for F&O, Azure DevOps pipelines and build/release processesand/ or Software deployable packages

F&O Financial Architecture Experience (Required)

• Working knowledge of the General Ledger posting engine, including main accounts, financial dimensions and how subledger transactions post to the ledger.

• Experience building or extending data entities involving financial master or transactional data.

• Technical understanding of the F&O security model, including duties, privileges and roles.

Power Platform Skills (Preferred)

• Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse, or strong .NET / C# skills and willingness to learn the Power Platform.
