<h2><strong>About the opportunity</strong></h2> <p>We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who is comfortable working with infrastructure to join the Platform Engineering domain in the Connectivity group.</p> <p>The mission of Platform Engineering is to provide trusted, performant, self-service platforms that empower product teams to build "the bank the world loves to use." The Edge team contributes to this mission by providing a unified Edge platform for all partner-facing and customer-facing traffic, where security and governance are embedded by default, operational ownership is always clear, and platform changes can be made quickly without creating customer risk.</p> <p>As one of the first banks completely hosted in the cloud, our security, resilience, and productivity standards require not only the use of a modern technology stack but also building teams in line with our principles, supporting our product teams, the company, and our customers.</p> <h2><strong>In this role, you will:</strong></h2> <ul> <li> <p>Design, build, and maintain build a secure and performant unified Edge platform for all partner-facing and customer-facing traffic.</p> </li> <li> <p>Bring a strong engineering perspective to the team, helping to instill software design best practices, scalable system architecture, and high-quality code standards.</p> </li> <li> <p>Collaborate with Engineers, SREs, and other platform stakeholders to deliver robust, maintainable, and secure infrastructure solutions tailored to the needs of both technical and non-technical internal users.</p> </li> <li> <p>Actively support platform scalability, observability, and testing efforts, helping to ensure services are production-ready and compliant.</p> </li> <li> <p>Take part in roadmap and architecture discussions, contributing your experience in backend systems and your understanding of customer-facing product constraints.</p> </li> <li> <p>Foster cross-functional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mentoring within the team.</p> </li> </ul> <h2><strong>What you need to be successful</strong></h2> <p><strong>Background and skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>At least 5 years of proven experience as a backend-focused software engineer, designing and building production-grade services and systems.</p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p>Strong programming skills preferably with JVM-based languages like Java or Kotlin, along with familiarity with relevant backend frameworks and tooling such as Spring.</p> </li> <li> <p>Solid understanding of software architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architectures, REST/gRPC APIs).</p> </li> <li> <p>Practical experience with cloud-native development, with strong expertise in AWS.</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and familiarity with DevOps/SRE principles.</p> </li> <li> <p>Appreciation for the importance of code quality, automated testing, documentation, and observability.</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to have:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of Golang and Python.</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience with deploying and maintaining Kubernetes workloads.</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiarity with AI-related AWS services, particularly SageMaker, Bedrock, or similar tooling, is highly desirable.</p> </li> <li> <p>Prior experience with AI/ML platforms is a strong plus - or a demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow in this direction.</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Traits:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>You think like an engineer, act like a product owner, and communicate like a teammate.</p> </li> <li> <p>Comfortable navigating ambiguity and able to make pragmatic technical decisions.</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong collaborator who thrives in cross-functional environments and adds value across the software development lifecycle.</p> </li> <li> <p>Enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and learning from others.</p> </li> </ul> <p>We’re looking for a seasoned backend engineer eager to apply their expertise in the context of Edge networking.
