About this role

The University of Southern Maine (USM) invites applications for the position of Regional Associate Director of Admissions – Long Island, New York. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced admissions professional who is passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals while expanding USM's presence throughout the Long Island and greater New York metropolitan region.
Serving as the University's dedicated admissions representative in the region, the Regional Associate Director manages the full recruitment cycle for prospective first-year, transfer, and other student populations. Working remotely with a high degree of independence, this position develops and implements a comprehensive territory strategy, cultivates relationships with school counselors and community partners, evaluates applications, and guides students and families through the admissions and enrollment process. The role plays a critical part in growing USM's visibility, applicant pipeline, and enrollment from one of the University's most important out-of-state markets.
What You’ll Do:

• Develop and execute a strategic recruitment plan for the Long Island and Metro New York territory, including enrollment goals, travel schedules, and recruitment events.

• Build and maintain strong partnerships with high school counselors, community colleges, educational consultants, community organizations, alumni, and other key stakeholders.

• Represent USM at college fairs, high school visits, community events, receptions, and other recruitment activities throughout the region.

• Provide personalized admissions counseling to prospective students and families regarding academic programs, admissions requirements, financial aid, and enrollment.

• Review applications and evaluate candidates for admission in accordance with University policies.

• Lead territory-specific yield initiatives through individualized outreach, regional events, and coordination of campus visit opportunities.

• Maintain accurate recruitment data and activity records within the University's CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system and provide regular reports on territory performance and market trends.

• Travel periodically to the Portland campus for admissions training, application review, retreats, and major recruitment events.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

• Proven ability to independently manage an admissions territory and recruitment strategy.

• Strong relationship-building, networking, and presentation skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with students, families, school counselors, and community partners.

• Experience using CRM systems and data to inform recruitment strategies and enrollment decisions.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while working remotely.

• A collaborative mindset with a commitment to serving students from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, including evenings and weekends during peak recruitment periods.

Pay and Benefits
This is a remote, full-time, 10-month position based in or near Long Island, New York. This position offers an annual salary of $45,833.33, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off (13 holidays, vacation, and sick leave), health, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, tuition benefits for employees and eligible dependents, and a 403(b) retirement plan with 10% employer contribution. Work Schedule and Location
This is a remote, full-time (40 hours/week), 10-month position located near Long Island, New York. The position requires extensive travel throughout the assigned territory and flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak recruitment seasons. Periodic travel to the University of Southern Maine campuses in Maine is required for training, admissions review, and signature recruitment events.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in college admissions or a closely related field, including territory management and independent recruitment travel.

• Residence within, or willingness to relocate to, the Long Island/Metro New York region.

• Valid driver's license and access to a fully insured personal vehicle.
