The Manager, Supply Chain Quality will plan, organize, implement, and support MasTec Industrial’s supplier, vendor, fabricator, and subcontractor quality management processes across multiple projects. This is a remote corporate quality position supporting project teams with a primary focus on engineering and procurement scopes, bought-out equipment packages, vendor documentation, supplier surveillance, subcontractor quality requirements, and quality-related commercial compliance.
The Manager, Supply Chain Quality will interface with Supply Chain, Document Control, Engineering, Project Quality, Operations, vendors, fabricators, subcontractors, and third-party inspection agencies to ensure quality requirements are properly identified, included, submitted, reviewed, approved, inspected, and closed throughout the procurement and subcontract lifecycle. Engineering will be a key stakeholder in vendor submittals and technical document reviews, while subcontractor quality requirements will be coordinated through Supply Chain, Project Quality, Operations, and applicable project stakeholders.
This position reports directly to the Director of Quality and supports all MasTec Industrial projects by helping ensure that suppliers, vendors, fabricators, and subcontractors are properly evaluated, approved, monitored, and held accountable to contract, code, specification, documentation, inspection, and turnover requirements.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participate in procurement planning, supplier strategy discussions, project quality planning, and subcontractor quality planning to identify quality risks and required controls.
Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of MasTec Industrial’s supplier, vendor, fabricator, and subcontractor quality management processes.
Review purchase orders, subcontract requirements, specifications, codes, standards, quality clauses, inspection requirements, and documentation requirements to ensure quality expectations are clearly defined and properly flowed down.
Coordinate criticality assessments for major vendors, fabricators, suppliers, and bought-out equipment packages to determine required levels of quality oversight, source inspection, third-party surveillance, FAT participation, witness points, and hold points.
Support development and maintenance of the Schedule of Required Vendor Documents (SORVD), including required vendor submittals, responsible reviewers, due dates, approval status, and required approvals prior to fabrication, shipment, mobilization, installation, or turnover.
Coordinate with Supply Chain and Document Control to ensure required vendor documents are submitted on schedule, routed to the proper stakeholders, reviewed, approved, and tracked through closure.
Coordinate with Engineering on vendor technical submittals, engineered equipment documentation, drawing reviews, calculations, data sheets, fabrication documentation, and other vendor documents requiring engineering review or approval.
Identify and escalate risks related to late, missing, incomplete, rejected, or unapproved vendor and subcontractor documentation.
Review or coordinate review of vendor and fabricator quality plans, inspection and test plans, procedures, certifications, test reports, inspection records, material documentation, preservation requirements, packaging requirements, and turnover records.
Coordinate vendor surveillance activities through third-party inspection agencies, including inspection assignments, required documentation, inspection reports, hold point notifications, adverse findings, and closure of open items.
Attend or coordinate pre-inspection meetings, fabrication meetings, FATs, witness points, hold points, and project-specific quality meetings when direct MasTec participation is required or third-party surveillance is not practical.
Support supplier, vendor, fabricator, and subcontractor approvals, pre-approvals, evaluations, audits, and performance reviews.
Support subcontractor quality management by ensuring subcontractors submit required quality documentation prior to mobilization or start of work, including quality plans, ITPs, procedures, qualifications, inspection forms, test plans, and turnover documentation as applicable.
Participate in subcontractor pre-inspection meetings and support site quality teams in communicating subcontractor quality requirements, documentation requirements, inspection expectations, and project hold points.
Coordinate remotely with site quality managers to track subcontractor quality deliverables, open documentation items, NCRs, corrective action requests, observations, and closeout records.
Work with Supply Chain, subcontract administration, Project Quality, and Operations to support enforcement of quality-related subcontract requirements, including document retention, timely submittals, inspection access, corrective action response, and turnover documentation.
Identify, document, communicate, and help resolve supplier, vendor, fabricator, and subcontractor quality issues, including nonconforming materials, documentation deficiencies, fabrication defects, missing traceability, late submittals,…
