About this role

UNLOCKING THE POWER OF TRUSTED DATA

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF DATA INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ANALYTICS AND AI

Fivetran is seeking a Product Counsel to join its Legal team, supporting the company’s mission to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. As Fivetran and dbt Labs unite to deliver a comprehensive data infrastructure layer, this role is central to enabling innovation while managing risk across a rapidly evolving product landscape.

Reporting to the Director - Legal Product & Strategy, the Product Counsel will provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice throughout the product development lifecycle. This position partners closely with Product, Engineering, Privacy, and Go-to-Market teams to address complex legal issues, support new product initiatives, and ensure compliance with intellectual property, software licensing, privacy, AI, and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong legal judgment, business acumen, and the ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable guidance for technical and business stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have a J.D., active membership in at least one U.S. state bar, and 4-7 years of relevant legal experience counseling SaaS companies. Experience advising on open-source software licensing, compliance, and governance, as well as leveraging AI tools to enhance legal workflows, is highly valued. Success in this role depends on clear communication, a growth mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Fivetran is committed to building diverse, high-performing teams and fostering an inclusive culture where all employees can thrive.
