What’s the position?
This is an exciting opportunity to join our rapidly growing technology team, responsible for the experience that sits at the heart of every player’s relationship with us: moving money. We’re looking for a Principal Mobile Engineer to own the frontend technical direction of the Payments & Cashier domain — deposits, withdrawals, payment methods, balances, and transaction history — within our high-performance React Native app for iOS and Android. This is a role that works closely with Product Management, Design, QA, Backend Engineering, and our Compliance and Data partners to deliver a fast, trustworthy, and compliant cashier experience for millions of players. The ideal candidate has a strong track record building React Native apps, native iOS and/or Android depth, and experience in payments/fintech, igaming, or another highly regulated domain.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. As the most senior individual contributor in the domain, you’ll set the strategic technical direction for Payments on mobile, multiply the engineers around you, and help shape where the platform is going — not just what it’s building today.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Lead the frontend technical direction of the Payments & Cashier domain, owning architectural decisions for deposits, withdrawals, payment-option management, wallet/balance display, and transaction history, while ensuring alignment with the broader mobile platform.
• Own the architecture and evolution of Cashier-domain features within a high-performance React Native application for iOS and Android, serving tens of thousands of daily users across multiple product variants and regulatory jurisdictions.
• Partner with peer Principal Engineers in Core, Casino, and Sportsbook units and the Technical Director for Mobile to define, evolve, and uphold shared engineering standards, patterns, and conventions.
• Champion AI-agentic development — building, not just adopting. Design, build, and maintain agentic AI workflows, custom agents, and reusable AI skills for the Payments mobile team; define the conventions, guardrails, and evaluations that make AI safe and effective in a money-movement context; integrate AI across the SDLC (requirements → implementation → review → release) and drive measurable gains in productivity, quality, and developer experience. You will be expected to extend our internal AI tooling and skill libraries, not merely consume existing ones.
• Drive multi-quarter technical initiatives — payment-provider integrations, legacy migration, platform modernization, design-system adoption, and build-infrastructure improvements — coordinating execution across units.
• Navigate a highly regulated, money-movement domain — ensuring compliance, security, and stability (PCI-adjacent handling, geolocation, KYC and responsible-gaming touchpoints) while minimizing the architectural cost of jurisdiction-specific requirements.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex technical problems in the Cashier unit — leading troubleshooting, finding root causes quickly, and turning incidents into systemic improvements.
• Champion comprehensive observability — analytics, error reporting, and performance monitoring for payment flows — and use data to drive architectural and product decisions.
• Partner with Product, Design, QA, Backend, Compliance, and Data/Reporting to shape roadmaps, inform feasibility, and make build-vs-buy-vs-migrate decisions — including honoring data contracts so cashier changes don’t break downstream reporting or compliance.
• Mentor and develop senior and staff engineers through architectural guidance, code-review culture, and hands-on pairing on complex problems.
• Contribute to cross-unit technical forums, representing Payments engineering priorities and collaborating on platform-wide decisions.
• Cultivate a positive engineering culture that values quality, pragmatism, and continuous improvement.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a technical leader who raises the engineering bar across the organization — someone who identifies systemic problems before they escalate, makes sound architectural decisions, and multiplies the output of the engineers around them. As our career framework describes the Principal level, this person is the most distinguished individual contributor in their discipline: they set strategic technical direction, influence the direction of the org (not just their team), and act as a company-wide influencer who turns deep expertise into breakthrough outcomes. The ideal candidate wants to understand where we’re going and partners with peer Principals and the Technical Director for Mobile to shape the strategy that gets us there — all in service of the best, most trustworthy customer experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
• 10+ years developing mobile applications (native and hybrid), with at least 7 years focused on React Native.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Deep expertise in React Native architecture using TypeScript in strict mode, with a track record of defining patterns and conventions adopted across engineering teams.
• Mastery of dual state-management strategies — client…
