Pre-Production Coordinator

<p class="p2">The Pre-Production Coordinator is the central nervous system for the parts that build every Allied Maker fixture. Servicing the entire company from our core catalog of components, this role owns the accurate interpretation of bills of materials, the skilled pulling of parts from inventory, and the smooth handoff of those parts to downstream departments - metal finishing, glass, wood, electrical, assembly, and custom. It takes technical know-how, an eye for detail, and genuine discernment about parts and materials to do this job well.</p> <hr> <h3><span class="s1"><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></span></h3> <p class="p3"><strong>BOM Interpretation & Kit Preparation</strong></p> <ul> <li>Read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs) for standard collection fixtures and custom orders; identify every part required and resolve ambiguities with Design and Pre-Production II.</li> <li>Pull parts from the central inventory in the correct quantities, verifying part numbers, revisions, and finish variants before release.</li> <li>Stage parts for delivery to the correct department at the correct stage of production (machining, finishing, glass, wood, electrical, assembly, custom).</li> </ul> <p class="p3"><strong>Inventory Management in WMS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work fluently inside Allied Maker’s warehouse management system (WMS): receiving transactions, location moves, cycle counts, and issue-to-job transactions.</li> <li>Maintain part-location accuracy and flag discrepancies between physical stock and system counts for resolution.</li> <li>Keep bin locations organized, labeled, and logical so any team member can locate a part quickly.</li> </ul> <p class="p3"><strong>Technical Judgment</strong></p> <ul> <li>Use material and finish knowledge to distinguish visually similar parts (e.g., brass finishes, sister-SKU hardware, glass shapes) and catch mis-picks before they reach the floor.</li> <li>Escalate quality concerns on pulled parts to the Quality Control Engineer rather than passing suspect material downstream.</li> <li>Suggest improvements to bin layout, labeling, and pick routes based on day-to-day experience.</li> </ul> <p class="p3"><strong>Cross-Functional Coordination</strong></p> <ul> <li>Communicate daily with Procurement, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Custom teams about incoming work and stock positions.</li> <li>Support new product introductions by staging parts for prototypes and first production runs.</li> </ul> <hr> <h3><span class="s1"><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li>1–3 years of experience in warehousing, inventory, kitting, or light manufacturing.</li> <li>Strong attention to detail and a discerning eye; able to tell very similar parts apart.</li> <li>Comfortable working with computer-based inventory systems, scanners, and structured transactions.</li> <li>Ability to read and understand a bill of materials and simple mechanical drawings.</li> <li>Physically able to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and lift up to 40 lbs throughout the day.</li> <li>Reliable, organized, and team-oriented; willing to be flexible as priorities shift.</li> </ul> <hr> <h3><span class="s1"><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li>Prior experience in custom manufacturing, lighting, furniture, or luxury goods.</li> <li>Familiarity with NetSuite, WMS, or ERP-based inventory tools.</li> <li>Working knowledge of metal finishes (brass, aluminum, plating), glass, and wood species.</li> <li>Forklift or order-picker certification.</li> </ul> <hr> <h3><span class="s1"><strong>Compensation & Benefits</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li>Base salary range: $55,000 – $70,000 annually (based on experience)</li> <li>Annual discretionary bonus</li> <li>Medical, dental, and vision insurance</li> <li>401(k) with company match</li> <li>Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave</li> <li>Employer-paid life and disability insurance</li> <li>Employee assistance program</li> <li>Safety shoes and prescription eyewear allowance</li> <li>Employee discount on Allied Maker products</li> </ul> <hr> <h3><span class="s1"><strong>Work Environment & Physical Requirements</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li>On-site at the Glen Cove, NY workshop</li> <li>Active shop-floor environment; safety glasses and closed-toe footwear required</li> <li>Requires standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 40 lbs regularly</li> </ul> <hr> <h3><span class="s1"><strong>About Allied Maker</strong></span></h3> <p class="p2">Allied Maker is an American design and manufacturing studio creating luxury-crafted lighting fixtures.
