About this role
Patient Connections Associates are the next generation of the FCCT patient-facing team. Trainees are being prepared to run their own caseloads within a matter of months, and to become the primary point of contact for many of the families FCCT works with.
The training program is structured. You will move through several months of focused learning: shadowing calls, studying playbooks, engaging with cases alongside senior team members. The intention is that you become fluent in the science, the operational rhythm, and the emotional register of the work before you are asked to lead conversations independently.
You will not be doing this work alone. Every complex case is reviewed with Bayli or Poornima. The training program is designed to give you real responsibility as fast as your judgment can carry it, with senior support behind every call.
What you will do
During training (approximately the first three months):
Complete the FCCT foundational curriculum — targeted video content, playbook reading, case-study review, and case-work observation. Roughly two hours of video content is expected before your first family conversation.
Shadow senior team members on intake calls, family briefings, and case reviews. Sitting in on multiple calls per day is expected and is the fastest way to build fluency.
Learn the case-management workflow using Airtable, the FCCT supplier reference, and the standardized documentation practices the team uses.
Draft written work under senior review — follow-up emails, case summaries, and research syntheses — building toward independent authorship.
Take live calls with Bayli or Poornima observing, followed by structured post-call review.
Once trained (approximately month four onward):
Own a caseload of families at various stages of their cancer journeys. Serve as their primary point of contact for research syntheses, options-surfacing, and coordination.
Run intake calls independently, gather clinical and family context, and translate that into a working case plan.
Synthesize scientific and treatment research for each family, matching what is possible in the literature to what is possible in their specific circumstances.
Draft the family-facing deliverables that come out of each case: follow-up emails, personalized options reports, question banks to bring to their care team, and referrals into the FCCT supplier network.
Escalate complex cases to Bayli or Poornima using the FCCT escalation protocol.
Maintain rigorous case documentation in Airtable, contribute to the growing FCCT internal knowledge base, and help refine playbooks and templates as gaps are identified.
Who you are
Scientifically literate. You have a background in life sciences, public health, nursing, pharmacy, or a related field. You are comfortable reading a molecular tumor report, a trial protocol, or a scientific paper — or you are ready to become comfortable quickly.
Emotionally steady. You can hold hard conversations without deflecting into false reassurance. You can sit with silence when a family is composing themselves. You can absorb difficult news and still be present in the next call.
A strong writer. Much of FCCT's value is delivered in writing — follow-up emails, case summaries, research notes, question banks. Clear, warm, precise prose is a core skill of this role.
Curious. The oncology field is moving fast. What you learn in month one will need updating by month six. You keep learning because the field asks you to.
Careful with detail. You handle sensitive patient information with rigor. You document what you do, so that another team member can pick up a case cleanly.
Comfortable working within limits. You understand that FCCT is not a medical provider and never crosses that line, even when families are pushing for answers only a clinician can give. You know how to hold that boundary warmly.
What success looks like
During training:
You complete the foundational curriculum within the first two weeks and can articulate the FCCT three-pillar framework (creative physician, comprehensive diagnostics, therapeutics in parallel) without a script.
You sit in on calls actively, not passively — tracking what the senior team member is doing and why, and asking useful questions in post-call review.
Your first written drafts (follow-up emails, case summaries) require diminishing revision over the training period. Senior team members can trust your writing to reflect FCCT's voice and standards.
You demonstrate calibrated judgment about what to raise, what to escalate, and what to research independently. Better to over-flag early than to miss something.
Once running your own caseload:
Families you work with feel supported. In post-case surveys and follow-ups, they report feeling heard and likely to recommend FCCT to another patient.
You return follow-up emails within 24 hours. This is the FCCT standard. It matters because families are often making decisions on short timelines, and silence is felt as absence.
Case documentation is completed within 24 hours of the call. Any other team member could pick up one of your cases cleanly if they needed to.
You contribute to FCCT's knowledge base. As you encounter case patterns, supplier gaps, or unclear areas in the playbooks, you flag them and help improve them. You contribute to FCCT publishing at least one playbook  and adding 5 suppliers to the FCCT list per month.
Requirements
You'll need:
The right to live and work in the Bahamas, or eligibility for sponsorship that the organization can support.
To be based in Freeport, Grand Bahama, or willing to relocate there for a start date between June and December 2026.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in life sciences, public health, nursing, bioinformatics, pharmacy, or an adjacent field. PhDs are welcome but not expected.
Demonstrable comfort engaging with technical and clinical material — reading a clinical trial protocol or a genomic report shouldn't faze you.
