Position Overview
A physician-owned orthopedic group in Arizona’s East Valley is seeking a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon to lead and grow its established spine service.
The incoming physician will serve as the group’s sole dedicated spine surgeon, providing elective surgical care across two established locations in Mesa and Gilbert. This position includes no trauma responsibilities and no emergency room coverage, allowing you to focus on scheduled procedures, continuity of care, and long-term practice development.
You will be supported by two experienced Physician Assistants already assigned to the spine service. The practice also provides established referral relationships, guaranteed operating room block time, on-site imaging, physical therapy, rehabilitation services, and dedicated administrative support.

Position Highlights

Clinical Structure
Spine Surgeons: One dedicated surgeon
APP Support: Two Physician Assistants assigned to spine care
Clinic Schedule: Two days per week
Surgery Schedule: Two to three days per week
OR Access: Guaranteed block time
Locations: Mesa and Gilbert
Call: 1:3 rotation, limited to the surgeon’s established patient panel and supported by APPs
Trauma/ER Coverage: None
The two dedicated PAs assist with clinic flow, patient evaluations, surgical coordination, inpatient care as applicable, and postoperative follow-up.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary of $400,000–$650,000, based on experience

Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and treat patients with degenerative, deformity-related, and structural spine conditions
Perform elective spine procedures, including fusions, discectomies, decompressions, and minimally invasive procedures
Develop individualized surgical and nonsurgical treatment plans
Lead preoperative evaluations and postoperative patient management
Collaborate with dedicated PAs, physical therapists, rehabilitation professionals, and clinical support staff
Provide scheduled patient care at the Mesa and Gilbert locations
Coordinate care with referring physicians and other specialists
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Monitor surgical outcomes and participate in quality-improvement initiatives
Contribute to the strategic growth of the spine service line
Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered orthopedic spine care
Required Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
Completion of a Spine Surgery fellowship
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
Active Arizona medical license or eligibility to obtain one
DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
Ability to secure hospital and surgical facility privileges
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing a broad range of elective spine procedures
Training or experience in minimally invasive spine surgery
Demonstrated interest in practice development and service-line growth
Strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach to APP utilization
Interest in a long-term private practice and partnership opportunity
