Medical Legal Assistant - Orthopedics
Staffing for Doctors · Nicaragua · 2026-10-16
About this role
We are seeking an exceptionally detail-oriented, upbeat, and bilingual (English/Spanish) Virtual Assistant to support a fast-paced Orthopedics, Pain Management, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) practice. The ideal candidate possesses 2+ years of remote experience supporting a U.S. medical or medical-legal environment, demonstrating superior English written communication and reading comprehension. In this role, you will take ownership of creating comprehensive medical chronologies, conducting cost analyses, liaising with attorney offices, and converting patient inquiries into scheduled appointments within an established, high-precision workflow.
Key Responsibilities
•
Medical Chronologies & Cost Analysis: Review complex medical records to build precise chronological summaries and perform cost analyses of medical and non-medical services.
•
Medical-Legal Coordination: Draft professional emails to arrange medical-legal encounters, communicate with attorney offices, and build deposition and trial binders.
•
Lead Conversion & Appointment Scheduling: Proactively guide prospective patients toward scheduling appointments rather than passively answering phone inquiries, while maintaining precise calendar management.
•
Patient & Referral Outreach: Conduct professional inbound/outbound calls and follow-ups in both English and Spanish with patients, legal representatives, and referral sources.
•
Documentation & Verification: Perform insurance verifications and ensure meticulous, real-time documentation of every patient and legal interaction.
•
Deadline Management: Independently manage priorities to consistently deliver client reports on or before strict deadlines.
Requirements
•
Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience supporting a U.S.-based medical or medical-legal practice remotely. (Experience in Orthopedics, Pain Management, PM&R/Spine, or Neurosurgery is strongly preferred).
•
Language Skills: Fluent bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. Advanced English writing and proofreading skills are critical for drafting formal reports and emails.
•
Communication Style: Clear, confident, cheerful, and professional demeanor over the phone and in written correspondence, with minimal accent in spoken English.
•
System Alignment: At least 1 year of experience with ECW.
•
Attributes: Self-motivated, highly organized, HIPAA-compliant, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment that values directness and precision.
Please note that this is a full-time contractor position (40 hours per week) with a starting pay rate of $6 per hour depending on skillset and experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am -5:00pm EST.
