About the Role
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the procurement of materials needed and vendors for daily company operations. This position is also responsible for overseeing the Supply Chain department employees as well as contractors.

General:

• Ensure that all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

• Requests quotes from vendors and negotiates pricing as well as delivery dates.

• Evaluates quotes and determines which vendor the company will use based on material needed, pricing, quality, and lead times.

• Creates and distributes purchase orders to vendors.

• Verify purchase orders against invoices before sending off for management approval/signature.

• Cultivates and maintains strong professional relationships with existing vendors.

• Sources additional vendors for competing pricing by researching standard materials needed, as well as materials outside of scope.

• Onboard new vendors by collecting documents such as MSA, W9, and COI. This includes ensuring they meet all necessary vendor requirements.

• Ensure purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.

• Purchases tools and equipment for gas field crews.

• Oversees the RFQ process by providing RFQs to contractors for bids on construction projects.

• Determines which contractor will be awarded the bid based on price, availability, and time to complete the project.

• Create policies, procedures, and best practices for purchasing goods to maintain adequate inventory levels.

• Coordinate with multiple departments on project schedules to maintain sufficient inventory levels.

• Maintain a pricing history and other vendor records.

• Provides management oversight of the company’s fleet program through the Fleet Coordinator.

• Oversees vehicle acquisition, assignment, replacement, and disposal strategies to support operational needs.

• Monitors fleet utilization, maintenance, operating costs, and lifecycle performance to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost control.

• Manages relationships with fleet management providers and other key fleet vendors.

Requirements
Education / Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent area of focus.

• 5+ years of supply chain experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Knowledge of invoicing and how it relates to purchase orders.

• Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.

• Thorough knowledge of how to read and understand BOMs.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work professionally alongside all levels of the organization, both within and outside of the company.

• Ability to work independently with sound judgement, as well as collaboratively on the team.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with Smartsheet, NetSuite, or ERP systems.

• The ideal candidate will have an eager sense of on-the-job learning by being hands-on.
