Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Fort St. John, BC for Locators, Drillers, and Drivers supporting horizontal directional drilling and utility construction operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include operating and assisting with drilling and heavy equipment, locating underground utilities, conducting site inspections, and supporting safe setup and breakdown of job sites. Team members will transport equipment and materials to and from work locations, follow work plans and drawings, and communicate with supervisors and crews to complete projects on schedule. The role involves working outdoors in varying conditions, adhering to safety regulations, and maintaining equipment in good working order. Collaboration, clear communication, and a strong focus on safety and quality are essential in this position. Qualifications
Proficiency with heavy equipment operation and safe handling procedures in field environments. Hands-on experience with drilling activities, including horizontal and directional drilling techniques. Knowledge of inspection practices for equipment, tools, and job sites to ensure safety and compliance. Familiarity with oil and gas sector operations and standards, particularly in utility construction and maintenance. Valid driverâs license with a clean driving record; experience driving trucks or equipment haulers is an asset. Ability to interpret basic construction drawings, utility maps, and job specifications. Strong awareness of workplace health and safety, including adherence to company and regulatory requirements. Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and report site conditions clearly. Previous experience in utility construction, drilling, or related trades is preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., H2S Alive, First Aid, equipment tickets) are an asset.
