<p>The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking <em>Licensed Veterinary Technician in Surgery</em> across to support our non-profit mission of delivering world-class care to our patients.</p> <h3>Responsibilities</h3> <ul> <li>Training in Anesthesia, Recovery, General Surgery, Emergency Room, and the Operating Room.</li> <li>Assist with all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge.</li> <li>Provide anesthesia support and nursing care primarily for the Surgery Department. </li> <li>Provide exceptional and compassionate care for our patients from admission through discharge</li> <li>Support veterinarians in all facets of care, including interpreting and executing treatment directives</li> <li>Complete all necessary technical procedures and treatments, with strict adherence to department and hospital protocols</li> <li>Communicate professionally with clients and referral veterinarians</li> <li>Maintain concise and accurate records of the patient’s treatment progress and charges</li> <li>Maintain stock, order supplies, and assist with cleaning and maintaining cleanliness of ward</li> <li>Participate in the training of new employees and volunteers</li> <li>Participate in educational and research projects</li> <li>All other related duties as assigned</li> </ul> <h3>Duties</h3> <p style="padding-left: 40px;">Will include but not be limited to;</p> <ul> <li>Providing anesthesia support for other clinical departments</li> <li>Client communication</li> <li>Patient care</li> <li>Troubleshooting, operation, care and maintenance of surgical and anesthetic equipment</li> <li>Maintenance of inventory</li> <li>Participation in an overnight anesthesia on-call rotation</li> <li>Research/educational projects.</li> </ul> <h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>Must have a New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit</li> <li>Must have an advanced anesthesia skill set and be able to perform all the associated with a critical and emergent anesthesia procedure.</li> <li>The equivalent of 6 months training is required in the Surgery Department of the Animal Center.</li> <li>Knowledge and ability to remain of the techniques associated with advanced care of veterinary patients is preferred.</li> <li>The candidate must be able to lead and act autonomously during a crisis and be able to adept at crash medicine and resuscitation.</li> <li>A strong skill set in phlebotomy, catheter placement, anesthesia protocols, anesthesia monitoring and post-operative care is essential.</li> <li>The individual must be flexible about working additional hours when necessary and have a willingness and determination to remain on the cutting edge of veterinary anesthesia and veterinary neurology.</li> <li>Must have animal handling experience and ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds</li> <li>Must be able to work successfully as part of a team</li> <li>Must also be able work independently and proactively</li> <li>Must establish and maintain effective, respectful working relationships and customer satisfaction with all stakeholders, including department staff, medical staff, support staff, clients, and referring veterinarians</li> <li>Must have ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations</li> </ul> <h3>Our comprehensive benefits package includes:</h3> <ul> <li>Competitive salary</li> <li>Generous sign-on bonus</li> <li>Generous paid time off</li> <li>Tuition assistance</li> <li>50% discount on veterinary care</li> <li>Mentorship through the VTS process</li> <li>Continuing education funds with rollover options</li> <li>NYS Licensing fee reimbursement</li> <li>Relocation reimbursement for qualified candidates who live outside the NYC metropolitan area</li> <li>403b matching</li> <li>Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage</li> <li>You may be eligible for The Public Loan Service Forgiveness Program as we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit employer</li> </ul> <h3>Shift</h3> <ul> <li>Sunday, Monday & Tuesday [8am-7pm] <ul> <li>Every other Wednesday [8am-7pm]</li> </ul> </li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">Pay Range</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$30</span><span class="divider">—</span><span>$40 USD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p><strong>Excellence in veterinary medicine since 1910.
