Hi! I'm Dessa, Associate General Counsel here at Customer.io. We're hiring a Legal Assistant to help our growing Legal team operate at its best.
This is a role for someone who loves bringing structure to fast-moving environments — the kind of person who sees a messy folder system and genuinely wants to fix it, who gets excited about finding a better way to route a contract, and who looks at AI tools as a competitive advantage rather than a novelty. You'll work closely with Legal, Sales, RevOps, and Finance to keep core legal workflows running smoothly, while helping us push the boundaries of how a modern legal team operates.
We're a small but ambitious team, and the work you do here will have real, visible impact from day one.
What we value
• Own it — You take initiative, follow through, and hold yourself accountable. Whether it's a filing deadline or a process improvement, you don't let things fall through the cracks.
• Build, don't just maintain — You're always looking for a better way. You see process gaps as opportunities, not someone else's problem.
• Use AI like it's your job — Because it is. We expect you to actively experiment with AI tools, identify new use cases, and help us reduce manual work across the team.
• Collaborate across boundaries — You communicate clearly and work well with people outside the Legal team, whether that's RevOps, Finance, or a Sales rep who needs a contract update.
• Earn trust through the details — You're precise, consistent, and reliable. The Legal team depends on you to keep information accurate and accessible.
What you'll do
Legal Administrative Support
• Triage and respond to inbound Legal requests and external notices, tracking deadlines so nothing gets missed
• Own legal calendaring across filings, renewals, and compliance obligations
• Coordinate invoice processing and vendor payments with Finance
• Manage physical mail, board prep logistics, and note-taking for key Legal meetings
Document and Knowledge Management
• Maintain Legal's document and contract repositories in Google Drive - naming conventions, folder structure, access controls
• Manage DocuSign workflows: track envelope status, store completed agreements, keep records clean
• Support document migrations, system cleanups, and privacy-related documentation (DPAs, GDPR requests, data flows)
• Leverage AI tools and automation to reduce manual work, improve document retrieval, and increase consistency across Legal processes
• Proactively identify gaps in document management and suggest improvements
Entity Management and Compliance
• Track corporate records, manage filing deadlines, and ensure timely submissions across jurisdictions
• Maintain compliance calendars with visibility across Finance, HR, and Legal
Contract Support and Light Drafting
• Review MNDAs, amendments, and order form exceptions, flagging issues for attorney review
• Apply AI tools to support contract review - identifying non-standard terms, summarizing provisions, and flagging risks for attorney review
Legal Team Enablement
• Partner with the Sr. Legal Ops Manager to identify and ship process improvements
• Proactively identify new AI automation opportunities and help drive implementation alongside the Sr. Legal Ops Manager
• Act as a coordination point across Legal initiatives, keeping things organized and moving
What we're looking for
• 2+ years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, or similar operational role (in-house or law firm).
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail — you catch things others miss.
• Genuine comfort with AI tools, and a proactive mindset toward using technology to improve how you work.
• Experience managing documents, calendars, and administrative workflows at volume.
• Ability to juggle multiple workstreams and shift priorities without dropping the ball.
• Clear communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally.
• Demonstrated experience managing high-volume document systems (Google Drive, etc.) with strong discipline around structure, naming, and accessibility.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience supporting an in-house…
