About this role
Junior Broker, Business Funding
Grand Central, NYC | On site, full time | Year one OTE $60,000 to $125,000, uncapped
Who We Are
Premium Merchant Funding is a leader in the alternative lending industry, headquartered at 1 New York Plaza in the Financial District of New York City. Twelve years ago we were a single office, and today we operate 26 offices across 4 countries, partner with more than 100 lenders, and offer over 30 financial products and services to American business owners. In that time we have secured more than $7 billion in funding for businesses across the country. What makes that growth meaningful is who built it, because every one of our 26 offices is run by someone who started in the same seat we are hiring for today.
What We Do
We help small and mid-sized business owners get the capital they need to grow, hire, buy equipment, and weather slow seasons. When a traditional bank turns them down or moves too slowly, they come to us. Because we work with more than 100 lenders and offer over 30 products, from merchant cash advances to lines of credit, equipment financing, and term loans, we are not limited to a single solution. We find the right fit for each business, which is why our clients come back to us and refer others.
How Alternative Lending Works
Banks lend based on credit scores, collateral, and years of paperwork, and most small businesses don't fit neatly into that box. Alternative lenders look at how a business actually performs, such as its monthly revenue and cash flow, and they can approve and fund in days rather than months. As a broker, PMF sits between the business owner and that network of lenders. We learn what the business needs, gather the information required to underwrite it, and match it with the lenders and products most likely to approve it on strong terms. It is one of the fastest growing corners of finance, which is why companies like PayPal, American Express, and Amazon are all pushing into business lending in 2026. While they are learning the basics, we have spent twelve years building the relationships and the platform that make us a one-stop shop for business owners who need capital.
The Role
As a Junior Broker, you will build relationships with business owners by phone, learn the story behind their business, and turn those conversations into funding applications that you submit to our in-office closing team. You will negotiate terms, handle objections, and guide owners toward the solution that fits their business. You will manage your pipeline, follow-ups, and client accounts in our CRM, and you will own the book of business you build. Every client you fund becomes a relationship that generates repeat business and referrals, which is why a broker's second year usually looks very different from the first.
This is also one of the few careers that artificial intelligence cannot take over. When an American business owner needs capital to make payroll or open a second location, they do not want to talk to a chatbot. They want to talk to a person who understands their situation and will fight for the right deal. The skills this role depends on, like negotiation, persuasion, and earning someone's trust over the phone, are the skills that will stay valuable no matter how much technology changes.
Earnings and Growth
Year one OTE is $60,000 to $125,000, and there is no cap on what you can earn. Submitting two or more qualified applications a day is how brokers earn over $100K in commission for the year.
Who Thrives Here
The people who succeed in this role are competitive, driven by clear goals, and comfortable seeing their performance measured every day. They communicate well, build rapport quickly, and have the consistency to stay sharp through a high volume of calls. A college degree is not required. Former college and high school athletes make up a significant share of our top performers, and experience in retail, hospitality, cold calling, or any kind of phone or face-to-face sales translates well, although none of it is required.
Where You Work
Our Midtown office is located in the heart of Manhattan a block over from Grand Central. The Midtown team works directly alongside our New York leadership, with the same lenders, products, and clients as our headquarters, and it competes every month to be the top office in the company.
When
This is a full-time, on-site role, Monday through Friday. We are building our Q4 team now, with our next start date on October 19th, and we expect a very big end-of-year rush for funding.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
