<p><strong>The Opportunity</strong></p> <p>Brunswick Group is seeking curious, sharp and proactive minds to join our Tokyo office for a 12-month paid internship programme.</p> <p>At Brunswick, we advise clients through reputation-defining moments, helping them navigate complex business, financial, political and societal issues. Our Tokyo internship offers hands-on experience working with client teams on research, media monitoring, stakeholder analysis, communications planning, digital strategy and client engagement across Japan, Asia-Pacific and global mandates.</p> <p>This is an opportunity for analytical and ambitious individuals to gain exposure to high-stakes advisory work, learn from experienced experts, and build a strong foundation for a career in stakeholder engagement.</p> <p>The internship is designed as a 12-month programme, and candidates should be available to commit to the full duration. High-performing Interns may be considered for future full-time opportunities with Brunswick's Japan team.</p> <p><strong>About Brunswick in Tokyo</strong></p> <p>Brunswick's Tokyo office advises leading Japanese and international companies on some of their most important reputation, business and stakeholder challenges. Our team combines deep understanding of Japan's corporate, policy and media landscape with the expertise and reach of Brunswick's global network.</p> <p>Our advisers support clients across a broad range of situations, including corporate reputation, financial communications, transactions, public affairs, digital strategy, crisis and issues management, stakeholder engagement and leadership positioning. Working closely with colleagues across Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America, the Tokyo team brings together diverse perspectives and specialist expertise to help clients navigate an increasingly complex operating environment.</p> <p>As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced advisers, contribute meaningfully to client assignments and gain insight into how organisations address critical business and reputational challenges in Japan and around the world</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>As an intern, you will support client teams across a range of assignments, including:</p> <ul> <li>Conducting industry, company, competitor and stakeholder research to support client engagements and new business opportunities</li> <li>Monitoring media, policy and digital conversations in Japan and internationally, and analysing developments shaping corporate reputation, public discourse and stakeholder expectations</li> <li>Preparing reports, briefings and intelligence materials on key themes, narratives, market developments and emerging risks and opportunities</li> <li>Supporting research on current affairs, business leaders, prospective clients and issues affecting clients across sectors</li> <li>Assisting with client materials, presentations, stakeholder mapping, campaign planning and communications strategy development</li> <li>Supporting issues and crisis response efforts through rapid research, fact-finding and narrative analysis</li> <li>Supporting external client events, including investor meetings, media briefings, conferences and broader stakeholder engagement activities</li> <li>Working on assignments requiring analysis of Japanese and international media, policy developments and business trends</li> <li>Gaining exposure to how Brunswick develops advice for clients across corporate communications, financial situations, digital strategy, social media, SEO, AI and reputation management</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>What We Are Looking For</strong></p> <p>We are looking for candidates who bring:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills in <strong>Japanese and English</strong>, alongside exceptional research, analytical and synthesis skills</li> <li>A strong academic background and an interest in strategic communications, corporate affairs, business, media, public policy, markets and current affairs</li> <li>The ability to analyse complex information, identify key insights and communicate them clearly, concisely and accurately</li> <li>Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and the ability to recognise nuance in complex issues and stakeholder dynamics</li> <li>An interest in corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement, issues management and the factors shaping public discourse</li> <li>Understanding of corporate, financial and macroeconomic concepts, and an interest in how organisations navigate business and reputational challenges</li> <li>Strong digital literacy and an interest in the role of AI, social media and emerging technologies in business and communications</li> <li>The ability to work effectively across cultures and collaborate with colleagues and clients in both Japan and international markets</li> <li>A collaborative mindset, positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities</li> <li>A positive attitude and sense of humour, contributing to a collaborative, supportive and high-performing team environment</li> <li>Respect for diverse perspectives and working styles, alongside composure, good judgement and professionalism under pressure</li> <li>Availability to commit to the full 12-month internship programme and to work from our Tokyo office as part of an in-person team…
