HappeningIT is looking for a hands-on Data Manager & Data Engineer (Expert level) to join a strategic digital transformation program within a public sector organization. The program focuses on document digitization, process modernization, and building a data-driven ecosystem using Azure Cloud Dataplatformen. You will work in a complex, multi-actor environment, with responsibility for both data engineering and data management activities, across both on-premise and cloud systems.

**Role & responsibilities**

As a Data Engineer, you will:

* Design and implement data pipelines (batch and real-time)

* Migrate data from on-premise systems to Azure Cloud Dataplatformen

* Set up secure, scalable data integration and data Storage architectures

* Ensure robust data transformation and integration processes

* Support the collection and processing of structured and unstructured data

* Build solutions for data access, including APIs and secure endpoints

* Develop reports and dashboards using Power BI and SAP BO

* Apply data security policies and participate in access control implementations

* Support predictive and prescriptive analytics use cases

As a Data manager, you will:

* Define and maintain a business glossary and data dictionary

* Implement frameworks for master data and metadata management

* Lead efforts in data governance and ensure data quality across domains

* Collaborate with business units to align on data definitions and usage

* Contribute to building a data-driven culture across the organization

* Provide recommendations on data policies, standards, and lifecycle management

* Help define KPIs and structure data for analytical and operational reporting

* Act as liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders

**Additional information**

* Workplace: Brussels (near major train station)

* On-site requirement: 3 days/week minimum

* Contract: Fixed-term, renewable upon positive evaluation

* Only hands-on profiles will be considered — no consultants or project managers.
