About this role

Seaborne Shipbrokers S.A. is a leading provider of client-focused Shipbroking services based in Athens, Greece, offering expertise in Sale & Purchase, Newbuildings Contracting, Chartering, Financial Advisory, Research, and Valuations to Shipowners, Private and Public Equity investors, and Credit Institutions. We are currently seeking a highly experienced Financial Controller to lead and strengthen the Group’s accounting control, financial reporting, and compliance functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing structure, improving financial visibility, enhancing reporting processes, and ensuring timely and accurate financial management across the Group’s international operations.

Responsibilities Oversee the accounting and financial reporting operations of the Group Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures across Group entities Review reconciliations and monitor the Trial Balance Ensure audit readiness and oversee accounting records prior to external audits Prepare and review Financial Statements, management reports, and financial analyses Prepare and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages Monitor financial performance, profitability, and key financial indicators across Group entities Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities Establish and improve accounting controls, reporting processes and reporting timelines Own the Group's financial reporting framework and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information Serve as the primary owner of Financial Statements, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes Support Management with financial visibility, reporting, and strategic decision-making Participate in ad hoc financial, operational, and corporate projects Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, SOEL or equivalent) will be considered an asset Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant professional experience, within Shipping Strong experience in financial reporting, audits, accounting controls, and multi-company structures Excellent understanding of accounting standards and financial processes Proven experience managing external auditors and financial stakeholders Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems Excellent command of English, both written and spoken Ability to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality Benefits A senior role within a dynamic and internationally active shipping group Opportunity to contribute to the restructuring and enhancement of the finance function Exposure to complex international business operations Competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications
