About this role

The Facilities &amp; Building Services Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of building systems within a 24/7 hospital environment. This role ensures critical infrastructure, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire life safety systems, are maintained to the highest standards. The technician plays a key role in supporting hospital operations, regulatory compliance, and emergency response, with an emphasis on Fire Life Safety coverage.&nbsp; <h3 class="p4">Key Responsibilities&nbsp;</h3> <ul> <li class="p3">Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.</li> <li class="p3">Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Respond to and troubleshoot system failures, alarms, and emergency situations.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Support Fire Life Safety operations including coordination during fire alarms, drills, and emergency events.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Interface with FDNY and other regulatory agencies as required.</li> <li class="p3">Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and maintenance activities.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure timely completion of work.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDNY, and hospital safety standards.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Participate in a rotating schedule to support 24/7 facility operations, including weekends and holidays.&nbsp;</li> </ul> &nbsp; <h3 class="p4">Required Qualifications&nbsp;</h3> <ul> <li class="p3">High School Diploma or equivalent.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Minimum 3–5 years of experience in facilities, plant operations, or building maintenance in a healthcare or similar environment.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Demonstrated ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">Strong communication and teamwork skills.&nbsp;</li> </ul> &nbsp; <h3 class="p4">Preferred Certifications (FDNY)&nbsp;</h3> <ul> <li class="p3">T89 Fire Life Safety Director (must obtain within 12 months of hire).&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">P99 Low Pressure Oil Burning Boiler.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">S12 Sprinkler Systems.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">S13 Standpipe Systems.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">A35 Air Compressor.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">N98 Fuel Oil Piping and Storage.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">N01 Fire Guard.&nbsp;</li> <li class="p3">N07 Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor.&nbsp;</li> </ul> &nbsp; <h3 class="p4">Working Conditions&nbsp;</h3> Work is performed in a hospital environment requiring exposure to mechanical systems, noise, and occasional hazardous conditions.
