About this role

Are you ready to make an impact?

Director, TechEx, Software Engineering

From building customer-facing software to integrating complex platforms and modernizing legacy systems, we help clients use technology to solve important business problems. We bring software engineering, cloud, data, and AI together to design and deliver secure, scalable solutions. This includes embedding AI capabilities into applications and platforms, modernizing systems to support AI, and helping engineering teams adopt AI across the software development lifecycle.

As a Director in our Technology & Experience Practice Software discipline, you will help clients turn AI opportunities into practical engineering solutions. You will build client relationships, shape new opportunities, and lead teams delivering custom software, AI-enabled applications, platform integration, legacy modernization, and engineering transformation. You will help clients move from AI experimentation to production by aligning business needs with architecture, data, integration, security, governance, and delivery plans. You should be passionate about solving business problems with technology and ready to contribute to West Monroe’s fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.

What will you be doing?

The primary responsibility of this role is business development: winning new clients, growing existing relationships, and partnering with our industry teams to generate opportunities across the practice. You will focus on software engineering, modernization, and applying AI to technology solutions and delivery. You will also own client relationships, lead engagements, ensure strong delivery outcomes and client satisfaction, and help grow our engineering and AI capabilities.

As a Director within West Monroe, you are responsible for:

Business Development

• Lead and collaborate with industry segment teams and key accounts on account planning and growth.

• Use your network of technology, engineering, and AI executives, including CIOs, CTOs, Chief Digital Officers, and software engineering leaders—to secure executive introductions and generate new business.

• Identify opportunities where software engineering, modernization, and AI can address client priorities. Shape solutions, develop proposals and SOWs, apply onshore and nearshore delivery models, build client relationships, and close deals.

• Help clients define practical paths from AI strategy and experimentation to production solutions, including AI-enabled applications, intelligent agents, and AI-supported engineering workflows.

• Develop go-to-market messaging and sales materials that explain how West Monroe applies AI within software engineering and modernization engagements.

• Create work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for potential engagements, including plans that address data, architecture, integration, security, governance, and adoption considerations.

• Contribute thought leadership on AI-enabled software engineering, application modernization, and responsible AI delivery.

• Attend networking events and build relationships across the local professional and affiliate community.

• Identify partnerships that can generate revenue for software engineering and AI capabilities, and work with our partnerships team to develop those relationships and pursue opportunities.

Client Leadership

• Advise senior client executives on how to apply AI to business and technology challenges, connecting strategic goals to feasible software solutions and delivery plans.

• Lead teams that design, architect, and deliver custom software, AI-enabled applications, intelligent agents, and modernized platforms that create measurable business value.

• Help clients identify and prioritize AI use cases, assess technical readiness, and determine the data, architecture, integration, and operating model needed to take solutions into production.

• Guide modernization efforts that make applications and platforms more scalable, secure, adaptable, and ready to support AI capabilities.

• Lead client engagements and take overall accountability for successful delivery, demonstrating executive presence with senior client stakeholders.

• Provide quality assurance and hold regular executive check-ins to confirm that engagements are delivering and communicating value.

• Work with program and project leaders to establish processes and technology that improve business outcomes and efficiency across business and technical functions.

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in translating business objectives into software engineering strategies, architectures, and delivery plans.

• Help clients incorporate AI into the software development lifecycle, including appropriate uses for coding, testing, documentation, and developer productivity.

• Address responsible implementation throughout delivery, including security, privacy, governance, model evaluation, human oversight, and ongoing monitoring.

• Identify, develop, and apply reusable accelerators that address industry-specific software engineering, modernization, and AI challenges.

Practice Development

• Collaborate with national Technology & Experience leaders and colleagues across West Monroe’s industry and functional practices to develop and deliver software engineering, modernization, and AI offerings.

• Strengthen delivery capabilities for AI-enabled engineering, including reusable architectures, accelerators, delivery methods, and onshore and nearshore approaches.
