Director, Product Management - Platform & Shared Services
Okta · San Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington · 2026-08-04
About this role
Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.
This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.
At Okta, we are on a mission to free everyone to safely use any technology. As the Director of Product Management – Platform, you will own and drive the multi-year product strategy for Okta’s foundational platform suite. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, this role has complete product ownership over the core infrastructure powering Okta’s enterprise identity engine.
You will manage and mentor a team of Product Managers, translating Okta’s overarching company vision into an execution-focused roadmap. Your platform portfolio spans identity automation (Okta Workflows), core cloud identity directory (Universal Directory), multi-org governance (Okta Aerial), business continuity (Backup & Recovery), administrative design standards (UI Platform), monetization primitives (Licensing & Metering), and end-to-end Multi-Product Experiences (including AI assistants, unified policy layer, universal search, admin dashboard, and platform RBAC).
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Vision & Core Product Ownership
• Translate Okta's overarching enterprise vision into a comprehensive, multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the entire Platform portfolio.
• Leverage a deep understanding of competitive market dynamics, security architecture trends, and SaaS infrastructure evolutions to anticipate market shifts and maintain Okta's competitive advantage.
• Partner closely with the CPO, CTO, architectural leadership, and cross-functional execs to align platform investments with broader corporate strategy.
2. Execution, Business Impact & Operational Allocation
• Take direct accountability for core business results, high-throughput platform feature launches, and global platform resilience/uptime SLAs.
• Arbitrate and mediate complex cross-team resource allocations, balancing architectural scaling and technical debt against customer-facing multi-product initiatives.
• Drive cross-product convergence across seven key product pillars:
Multi-Product Experiences: Lead cross-product convergence including the Unified Policy Layer, AI Assistants, Universal Search, centralized Admin Dashboard, and Platform RBAC for Admins.
Okta Workflows: Drive low-code/no-code orchestration, event-driven execution, and integration ecosystem scale.
Universal Directory (UD): Scale Okta’s central cloud identity store for massive global enterprise customer performance and reliability.
Okta Aerial: Deliver Okta's centralized multi-org visibility, management, and governance platform.
UI Platform: Own the common admin UI framework, design system, and frontend architecture across all Okta products.
Licensing & Metering: Build global billing primitives, consumption tracking, feature flag architectures, and entitlement engines.
Backup & Recovery: Ensure enterprise-grade disaster recovery, configuration backups, and point-in-time restore capabilities.
3. Managerial Leadership & Team Growth
• Build, retain, and develop a high-performing team of Product Managers.
• Hire aggressively to raise talent density across the product organization, fostering an environment of technical rigor, accountability, and customer empathy.
• Act swiftly on performance gaps, actively coaching team members toward career growth while holding high execution standards.
4. Executive & Market Engagement
• Serve as the primary executive champion for Okta's platform strategy with CISOs, CIOs, strategic enterprise accounts, and industry analysts.
• Collaborate with Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success leadership to translate abstract platform capabilities into clear go-to-market value propositions.
