Summary
VillageReach is seeking to recruit an experienced Compliance Specialist to strengthen VillageReach DRC’s risk management, internal controls and compliance practices. The Compliance Specialist will provide both strategic and operational support in advancing best practices across risk management, quality assurance, compliance, internal controls, and due diligence. This role will help ensure that risk management is effectively embedded in operational processes across the country office. Working collaboratively with across functional teams, the Compliance Specialist will identify and mitigate risks, advise on policy and control improvements, and help foster a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.
Risk management:
Development of risk management principles, tools, compliance and accountability frameworks
Provide strategic oversight on effectiveness of internal controls and due diligence.
Support in review and contracts management,
Proactively addresses key risks, prevents non-compliance, and ensures robust due diligence thereby enhancing integrity, accountability, and operational excellence.
Providing guidance on risk management practices, promoting a strong compliance culture, and ensuring robust internal controls and due diligence processes across the organization.
Drive Integration of risk management principles into strategic decision-making and operational planning,
Strengthening integrity due diligence processes and systems, and implementing preventative measures against bribery, corruption, and fraud.
Internal Control & Compliance Advisory:
Establish and oversee implementation of internal control systems and frameworks
Leading or contributing to reviews on existing capabilities related to policies, processes, systems, and functions, which may involve gap analyses, control design reviews, and validating control effectiveness.
Oversee implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
Advising on the development and maintenance of policies relating to compliance and contributing to their implementation
Due Diligence Advisory:
Lead in development of integrity due diligence policies, procedures and tools based on best practices
Leading components of the integrity due diligence risk assessments and advice on mitigation of VillageReach exposure to integrity risks.
Capacity building and reporting:
Contribute to and support internal awareness-raising and capacity building efforts through Capacity Building & Knowledge Management.
Champion a culture of compliance and integrity through training, coaching, and facilitation support to all teams
Deliver risk and compliance insights and advisory reports to senior management.
Act as subject matter expert advice on complex compliance risks.
Coordinating with internal audit team and other units to address systemic compliance risks and advising on cross-functional solutions.
